King chuckles to himself, raising his chin to Carver who digs into his pocket and tosses him the keys to his Escalade. “Sorry, babe,” King says, turning to face me while striding out of the room toward the garage. “He has a fucking point and I’m not going to miss this shit. Let’s go.”

Fuck.

I glance across at Cruz who’s been all too quiet. “Aren’t you going to do something about this?”

He shakes his head. “First off, you’re eighteen. It’s a rite of passage to know how to drive, and second, you’re the fucking leader of Dynasty who has a string of targets on your back, you should have learned how to drive months ago and that’s on us. Consider it righting a wrong, or in the very least, a survival technique.”

I gape at him, feeling my heart beginning to stammer in my chest, racing so fast that I’m positive I’m going to pass out. I go to look to Carver for help, but there’s no use, I already know what that asshole is going to say, the fucking traitor. We’re supposed to be tight now. “I can’t. I’m going to hurt someone,” I say, considering getting on my knees and begging them, or at least distracting them with some good head.

Grayson groans and rolls his eyes, not down for my arguments, and without a moment of warning, he grabs my hand and yanks me so hard that I fly right off the couch and over his shoulder. He turns on his heel and stalks out of the room before I even know what the fuck is going on.

“Put me down you big ass turd stomper,” I demand, barreling my hands into his back, realizing all too quickly that my father never would have had to put up with this shit. “I’m not your ragdoll that you get to toss around whenever the hell you want.”

Grayson doesn’t respond, just keeps walking out of the room and just as he goes to move into the hallway, I catch Carver’s amused smirk, the only one that I’m sure I’ll see until we finally have Paris in our grasp. “Hey, little rabbit,” he says, getting on board with that stupid nickname again. “Crash my fucking Escalade and I’ll take it out on your tight little cunt.”

I smirk straight back at him. “Is that supposed to be a threat?” I question, wondering just how quickly he’ll collect on my punishment because there’s no doubt in my mind that I’m going to crash. I bet I could even have that big ass heap of metal turned into a twisted ball before I even reach the gates at the top of my property. “Because you’re sure as fuck going the wrong way about it.”

Carver’s response is cut off as Grayson steps out through the doorway and leads us out to the foyer. We hear the sound of the garage door opening and rather than cutting through to meet King in the garage, he walks straight out the front door and flies down the front steps, taking them two at a time, making me grip onto the back of his shirt, positive that after everything I’ve been through, it’s this that’s going to finally take me out.

As Grayson hits the bottom step, the Escalade comes rolling around the circle drive, pulling to a stop right in front of us. Grayson puts me down and I don’t miss the way that his hand remains at my wrist, more than prepared for the disappearing act that I had every intention of attempting.

King gets out of the driver’s seat and voluntarily puts himself in the back as Grayson picks me up and physically puts me in the front passenger seat. I’m buckled in and he locks the door before walking around to the driver seat. Within seconds we’re flying through the gate, and I find myself watching exactly what he’s doing. Don’t get me wrong, I know the general idea of what to do, but actually putting it into practice scares the shit out of me. The Escalade is so big and could take out a whole freaking family if I’m not careful, but the Ducati allowed me to zoom past things and avoid everything in my path. I guess there are bonus points for already knowing the basic road rules, so there’s that.

Grayson drives for ten minutes and leads us right out of Ravenwood Heights, past my favorite spot under the pier, and into Castlereagh Flats, where there are more than enough empty mall parking lots.

The Escalade comes to a stop and there’s silence in the cab as both of the guys’ heavy stares fall on me. “What?” I demand when the silence becomes too loud.

A smirk pulls at the corners of Grayson’s lips and he does his best to reel it in. “Are you ready for this?”
