Karleigh smiles up at me and then raises her brows before making a show of dropping her gaze down my body. I hold back a laugh, knowing damn well that she’s taking in the plunging neckline of my black gown, but what can I say? At least I don’t have a slit that comes riding right up to my hip like the last gown did. She should be grateful that I don’t have my pussy out on display, scarring her kids’ precious minds. Plus, my tits look great in this. Why not show them off? You know, the whole if you’ve got it, flaunt it bullshit.
Karleigh shakes her head, attempting to be serious, but in all honesty, I look fucking amazing. My hair is down in soft curls, making me look more girly than I ever have before, but damn, I feel like a freaking princess and the boys definitely seem to approve. Did I mention that my gown has pockets and a freaking train? It’s absolutely everything a girl needs.
Karleigh’s attention is stolen away by one of her kids, and I focus back on the patient crowd, their eyes boring into me and waiting to hear what I have to say, so I give them exactly what they want.
“PARIS MOUSTAFF IS DEAD.”
Throwing my fist into the air, my brass knuckles point toward the dazzling lights and Dynasty erupts into loud cheers. Hands shoot into the air, men are wolf-whistling, and kids are hollering and chanting, turning this already awesome party into a fucking rave.
I wait a moment as the crowd finally begins to settle down. “Tonight, we celebrate for everything that we’ve lost. Paris has taken from us over and over again. She has stolen our hearts, our loved ones, our safety, but never again. We will rise back up and we will dominate knowing that not even her horrendous evil can hold us down. We are stronger than ever before. WE. ARE. DYNASTY.”
The cheers start all over again and I watch as the crowd moves, jumping up and down with elation. I’ve never felt so good in my life. Getting to tell these people that they don’t need to fear ever again is like handing them the whole world and telling them that they can do whatever the hell they want with it.
When they finally settle down, I move on to the more important topics like what happens now and offer all of the heads of Dynasty the chance to return to their normal lives away from here. Their children can return to their normal schools and their wives can get back to their normal lives, but a big part of me is kinda hoping that they’ll all stay.
We’ve created a family here and it would be a shame to see anybody leave, but I understand the need for normalcy in your lives, especially when those lives come jammed packed with children to care for. I’m only just learning that myself now that we have Danika and Dominique staying with us. I’ve suddenly gone from the cool friend who hangs out with their older brother to the closest thing they have to a mother. It’s daunting, but I’m taking on the challenge and will happily look at those girls as my daughters … or at least my closely related little stepsisters. I’m way too young to be looking at myself as a mother of two pre-teen girls, but I can’t wait to help mold them into the strong women that they’ll one day become.
I close out my speech by reminding everyone to enjoy this night, even if they’re not big partiers because tonight is one hell of a good reason to celebrate, and after a third round of cheering, I walk to the side of my little dining table stage and meet Cruz. He raises his hands to my waist and helps me down despite the shifting little stairs that were erected beside the table.
I come down on my feet and Cruz pulls me into his arms. “You were amazing.”
“Speak for yourself,” I murmur, loving the way he steps in even closer and presses the sweetest kiss to my temple. “I’ve hardly been able to stop looking at you all night.”
“I know,” he teases, that too confident, cocky attitude shining bright. “It’s because I’m a fucking god, sexy as sin with the ability to fuck like the devil, plus I’m in my Beckham suit.”
Well damn. He ain’t wrong. He looks like a fucking meal and I plan on devouring it the second I can.
The partiers disperse around me, dragging me back into the crowd and showing me the time of my life as the guys watch me from the sidelines, dancing with the younger generations of Dynasty and finally allowing myself a chance to get to know them.
It’s an hour before I finally find Karleigh standing by the bar and I can’t help but race up to her and throw my arms around her. “I’m so happy you came,” I tell her, the joy radiating out of me like a ray of sunshine. “I wasn’t sure if you’d be able to make the trip. It was very last minute.”
