She slid off his lap, her bottom inflaming his cock all over again when he’d just managed to get it under control. She steadied herself by placing her hands on his shoulders, leaning down, giving him a view of her full breasts and just a brief glimpse of nipples. It was all he could do to keep from taking one into his mouth.

She couldn’t be deliberately tempting him, could she? He looked into her jeweled eyes, and her dark lashes swept down, veiling them immediately, but that dimple of hers was very much in evidence. She straightened and turned toward the stairs.

“I need my bag.”

“It is on the deck.” Petru followed her, admiring the way she walked easily on the boat. The water was rougher, and yet she had no trouble balancing, as if she were used to being out to sea.

Once on deck, he pulled her bag out from behind a chair where Benedek had placed it and indicated for her to tell them what she needed. The others were waiting to give him blood, and he gratefully accepted their offering. They waited for Safia to take over.

Safia found that the vessel the Carpathians had duplicated was an exact replica of one of Kadin Merabet’s fishing boats. She’d seen the boats many times in the harbor when they’d returned from sea. She stood for a moment, there in the dark, her face turned up to the night sky, welcoming the breeze. Hopefully, it would cool the hot blood surging through her veins and calm the raging fire that Petru had started in her.

She’d never been so aware of herself as a woman. She hadn’t known her body could ever feel such intense sensations. He’d used his fingers, and she’d soared so high. He’d told her there was so much more between a man and his woman. She wanted to know everything, experience everything with him. If she were honest, while she was a bit embarrassed that she’d allowed such liberties, she wasn’t in the least sorry. At least physically, she was more than compatible with Petru. There was no doubt in her mind she would enjoy that aspect of their relationship.

She needed to clear her mind, something difficult after what she’d just experienced with Petru. The things she’d allowed him to do to her made her blush, and it was hard not to anticipate what might come next. She liked that he explained things when she asked him. He never seemed to look down on her for asking questions. She was used to being able to voice her opinions and being taken seriously. She had always been encouraged to ask questions and seek knowledge.

It was a little disconcerting that she hadn’t remembered his friends were aboard the fishing boat. Had she been loud when she was moaning and crying out in such pleasure? She couldn’t remember, and she couldn’t think about that now. She had work to do, she told herself sternly.

Right at this moment, she had to clear her mind and call on every ounce of discipline she possessed. There was still one sea centipede she had to dispose of. It wouldn’t be an easy task, but she was the defender, and this was what she did. Once she made up her mind, she felt her armor slipping into place, the warrior pushing out the woman.

She took another deep breath and raised her arms to the sky, seeking to connect with the sea creature. She already knew the brain pattern she was searching for, since she had connected with two of the demons prior to this one. The giant sea centipede would be throwing off far more energy than the smaller ones had.

Once she located him several miles to the east, she searched for protections. The demon, like the others, had no safeguards she had to unravel. Lilith hadn’t expected opposition so early. Using a very delicate touch, Safia entered the creature’s brain, flowing in on the chaotic pattern. She had no idea if being larger meant he was more sensitive or less so. She took her time, patient as always, reading the intent in the demon.

As with the smaller demons, he was in pain. The cruelty of his mistress knew no bounds. Lilith had mutated this creature. She forced his hearing to be so acute that when he was submerged, the amplifying effect caused so much pain he was driven into a rage. If he went to the surface, the burning on his outer shell drove the creature insane. No matter where he went or what he did, he couldn’t get away from what she’d done to him.

His orders were to crush the fishing boats. If he did this to his mistress’ satisfaction, she would take away the pain. The demon didn’t believe it, yet it was his only hope, and he intended to carry out the order.
