“Oh, are you now?” I raise a brow. “And what’s the punishment for that then?”

A filthy smirk appears on his face. “Pain.”

And he pushes down my shirt and twists my nipples, making me moan.

Oh … that kind of pain.

“I can live with that kind of pain. I definitely can,” I murmur, grinning.

“Good. Because I don’t intend to stop.” He leans in and whispers into my ear. “Ever.”

When I finally go back to work again, Jamie’s eyes widen when she spots me.

“Amelia?” she mutters as if she can’t believe I’m actually here.

But before she can say another word, I put down a giant bouquet on her desk.

A broad smile forms on her face. “Wow, these are gorgeous.”

“They’re for you,” I say, a blush on my cheeks from her reaction. “As a thank-you for all the help you gave, and an apology of sorts for my behavior.”

“Aw, you shouldn’t have,” she muses. “But thank you so much. I did wonder where you were all this time after you hurriedly left with that guy. I thought you weren’t coming back for sure this time.”

I blush. “I wasn’t, actually, but things change.” I rub my lips together. “And I’m coming back to work here.”

Her jaw drops. “Huh? But how? I don’t understand.”

“My boyfriend really wanted me to have this job back, so he made her a better offer somewhere else.”

Her brows rise. “Your boyfriend?”

Her reaction makes me blush even harder. It feels so weird calling him my boyfriend, but it’s even weirder hearing it from someone else’s mouth. I don’t think I’ll ever get used to it.

“Eli. He’s the one who took me from my apartment.”

“Oh, that guy.” She makes a face. “And you two are dating now?”

I nod, rubbing my lips together. “He saved me.”

“Saved you?” She frowns.

I chuckle. “It’s complicated.” And I readjust my clothing as it feels awkward to talk about all of this.

“Hey, I don’t judge. I just wanna know … Is he treating you right?”

I smile. “Yeah. Better than Chris, definitely.”

“Good.” She lets out a big sigh.

“Are you upset with me?” I don’t want to be a bother, but I want to know if we’re on good terms. “I just want things to be okay between us.”

She shakes her head. “No, it’s fine. I mean, you were always a great coworker, and I did miss you.”

I smile. “I missed you too. And being here is my favorite thing in the world.”

We both smile, and I look down at my own feet as I don’t know what to say to her. I’ve lied so many times, but I can’t possibly tell her the truth either.

“I … I’m sorry for leaving you so suddenly without letting you know anything,” I say.

“No, no, you don’t have to apologize,” she responds.

“But I do,” I say. “It was no way to behave. I had some personal issues.” I tuck my hair behind my ear.

“Oh … Well, as long as you’re happy and safe. That’s all that matters.”

“I am,” I say, the smile on my face growing broader. “And I just want things to be normal again.”

“That’s good to hear,” Jamie says. “And you know what? Same, girl. Same.” And she winks.

I giggle to myself while Jamie grabs a stack of books, plopping them down onto the table right in front of me. “Here. You can start right away.”

I throw down my stuff and place it under the counter, then grab the stack with a happy grin. “Yes, ma’am.”

Eli

When I find her again, I sit down on one of the chairs near a round table in the back, closest to the bookshelves she’s working on. She hasn’t noticed me yet, but that doesn’t stop me from staring anyway.

I enjoy looking at her from afar while she’s busy rearranging the books as though she wrote them herself. My eyes follow her every move. Her fingers as they slide down the spine of a book. Her eyes as they peek at the words inscribed while her body leans into the shelf. It’s like a dance between her and the books, and it reminds me of the way she always leans into me when I wrap my arms around her, and the way she always looks into my eyes hungry for my kisses, my touch … and my cock.

I bite my lip at the thought.

I can’t help it.

Whenever she’s gone, all I can think about is ravaging her.

I quite like this new job of mine. Description: Making my angel happy.

Watching her from the shadows at a safe distance never gets boring. Especially not when she finally notices me.

A smirk forms on my face as my index finger rubs along my lip, her eyes tracing greedily along. My tongue darts out to wet my finger … and then I go in for the kill.

She giggles and runs off, ducking between two different bookcases. But she cannot hide from me. I know every one of these bookcases like the back of my hand, and I know exactly where she’s going.
