“Feeling better?” Aria asked.

“Yeah, I am.” He kissed her head.

Fuck, he loved this woman. Grant paused. Where the fuck did that come from? When it came to Aria, he’d known his feelings for her were strong, but this was a revelation to him.

He was in love with Aria Taylor. They were not just surface-level feelings either. These were deep feelings. The kind that consumed.

From the moment he first met Aria, he’d been completely besotted with her. He found any excuse to go to the vet’s just to see her. He’d wanted to talk to her, get to know her. Dating her, being around her, he’d never felt so fucking whole before in his life. Not at all.

Bull had found that woman in Maddie.

Grant had thought it wasn’t possible to find a woman that would make you forget your entire being, but now he sat with Aria and her parents at Thanksgiving, and he just knew deep in his soul she was the woman for him.

Isabella joined them at the table.

“Time to eat, I’m starving,” Isabella said.

“Now, remember, the calories you count now will reward you when you’ve given birth. Trust me. I didn’t keep my baby weight on for any longer than I had to,” Joan said.

He saw Aria’s hands grip the menu tightly.

“Aria, I suggest you stick with the vegetables. I’ve noticed you’re not following the diet like I told you,” Joan tutted. “You shouldn’t have worn that dress.”

“Aria will order what she damn well likes,” Grant said.

He didn’t know if Joan was used to people just listening to her shit, but he wasn’t going to sit back and allow her to say that shit to his woman. Aria looked fucking stunning.

“Pardon me?” Joan asked.

“It’s Thanksgiving, if Aria wants to order a big giant steak, she’ll order the steak. If it’s too expensive, I’ll fucking pay. If she wants the lobster, she can have the lobster. If she wants the full-works Thanksgiving dinner, followed by pumpkin pie, that’s what she’s going to eat.” Grant stared at Joan. “And as for the dress, I’m the one that told her to wear it and personally, it was a mistake of mine.”

Aria gasped.

“Because I’ve had to sit here and watch several men drool in her direction. Aria’s my woman, and she looks fucking gorgeous, so why don’t we cut the shit and all the drama, and let the woman—that’s right, the woman, not a child—make her decision?” Grant turned toward her. “You look amazing, as I said you would. Your ass is a fucking dream.”

He didn’t care that her cheeks were bright red.

He’d only been in the mother’s company for less than twenty minutes and she had already pissed him off significantly.

“Eat what you want and you can wear what you want.” He gripped the back of Aria’s neck and pulled her in for a kiss.

He felt her gasp. The kiss would have to do for now. He wanted to do so much more to her.

Grant turned to look at Joan. “It’s fucking Thanksgiving, who really gives a shit about calorie counting? Get over yourself.”

Chapter Twelve

Aria couldn’t believe it. No one had ever spoken to her mother like that before. For the whole meal, her mother sat, clearly pissed off, but she hadn’t once brought up calories or dieting, or anything. It was the first ever meal with her family that had been fun.

After Grant’s outburst, Isabella had been the first one to order the full Thanksgiving special, complete with pumpkin pie and extra whipped cream. Michael had the same, as had her father. Aria had also ordered the Thanksgiving meal as well. She didn’t like pumpkin pie and instead had a chocolate pecan pie with whipped cream. Grant had the same.

Her mother … ordered the same.

It was the first real meal they’d had. She hadn’t said a word, nor complained.

Stepping into her home, she spun around to Grant as he closed her front door and she turned toward him.

“I cannot believe you did that,” Aria said.

“What? Tell you how amazing your ass looked?”

Aria giggled. “No, said that stuff to my mom. No one has ever said anything like that.”

“Are you guys afraid of her or something?” Grant asked. His hands slid down to her ass. “I meant what I said. This dress is for my personal gaze only.”

She rolled her eyes. “Guys were not checking me out.”

“Oh, they were. I was surprised I didn’t have to throttle the maître d’. If I hadn’t been there, he would have been all over you.”

She shook her head. “Stop it.”

“No, you don’t see how amazing you are, but I do. I know you’re amazing, wonderful, and everything in between.” He cupped her face. “I think you’re beautiful.”

She stared into his eyes and couldn’t look away. From the moment Grant had entered that veterinary practice all those months ago, he had made her heart race. She had never felt such instant attraction before, but she had fought it.
