Yep, that was sexy as . . . as something sexy that she couldn’t think of right now. She licked her lips and he groaned.

“You’re teasing me, girl. That’s not very nice.”

“Never claimed to be nice,” she replied.

“But I know you are. You’re my good little girl, aren’t you?”

Doesn’t mean anything. Doesn’t mean he’s a Daddy. It’s just sexy talk.

But it was hot sexy talk.

“Am I?” She ran a finger over his skin, above the top of his shirt. “Maybe I don’t want to be a good girl.”

“You can’t change what you are, girl.” He stared down at her lips.

This was it.

She was getting kissed. And she didn’t think she’d been this nervous since her first kiss.

Suddenly, he drew back, leaving her bereft. She gaped as he moved a couple of steps away, running his fingers through his hair.

“What . . . what are you doing?”

“I shouldn’t be doing this with you.”

She narrowed her gaze at him. “Why not?” She glanced down at herself. “What’s wrong with me?”

If he said something mean to her, then she was . . . she was going to punch him in the nose. Then cry.

Yeah, she’d definitely cry.

His eyes widened and he surprised her by moving back and cupping her face between his hands. His gaze was so intense that it stole her breath.

“There is nothing wrong with you, girl. And I won’t hear you say that there is.”

“I didn’t say that there was . . . it was . . . you . . .”

His face filled with understanding. “I wasn’t rejecting you. There’s nothing wrong with you. But I can’t give you anything more than this.”

“What do you mean? More than what?” What was he talking about?

“More than sex. I can’t give you anything more than sex.” He stepped back again. “Now, I’ll call you a cab and take you downstairs to wait.”

“Hold on, buster. Who said I wanted anything more than sex?”

Gray stared down at her in shock.

Did she just say what he thought she said?

“What?”

“Who said I wanted anything more than sex?” She put her hands on her hips, giving him a sassy look filled with challenge.

One that made him want to take her over his knee and smack her ass until she turned to mush. Then set her on her knees in front of him so he could take that delicious mouth with his dick.

“You don’t want more than sex?” He didn’t know whether to believe her. Was she just saying that because she thought it was what he wanted to hear?

It is what you want to hear.

Right?

“Well, you never asked me what I wanted. You just decided you know what’s best. That’s a bad habit of yours.” She shook her head. “Another one to add to the list.”

“The list?” He stepped closer, pressing into her. He waited to see if she’d show any fear. “You have a list, girl?”

“No. But I’m going to make one.”

Grasping her chin, he tilted her face back. Then his gaze caught a glint of something in her eyes.

Fear?

Only a week had passed since she’d been attacked. He probably shouldn’t be treating her like this.

Go slow. Gentle.

Fuck.

He stepped back, dropping his hand from her chin. He was mad at himself for frightening her.

He really had no business around her.

“Why do you keep moving away from me?” she asked. “You had no problem being close while we were dancing.”

That had been a kind of torture. A definite test of his control. Holding her gorgeous body while she moved against him with sinful rolls of her hips.

Yep, he’d been close to exploding when he’d suggested a break. There was only so much a man could take.

“I don’t want to scare you.”

She looked puzzled. “I’m not scared of you.”

“You were attacked a week ago. When I leaned over you, I saw something that looked like fear in your face.”

“Oh.” She bit at her lip. “I’m not . . . I don’t think that was fear exactly. I’m not afraid of you.”

She had terrible instincts, then. Because she shouldn’t trust him. He wasn’t a good person. Not that he’d hurt her.

Would she freak if he got a bit rough?

He moved closer, resting his hands against the wall just above her head. He watched her. But all he could see in her face was heat.

He glanced down at her shimmery dress. It was hard to tell, but he wondered if her nipples were hard.

“You like this?”

“Yes,” she told him. “I like this.”

“Are your nipples hard?”

Her eyes widened as she stared up at him.

“When I ask a question, I expect an answer.”

He waited for her to protest. To tell him off for being demanding and arrogant. But her eyes were slightly dazed.

Hmm. Maybe she liked that.

Go easy, though.

She wasn’t a sub and she didn’t know the rules. And she was just attacked a week ago. Maybe she liked him taking control, but she wasn’t prepared for his rougher side.
