“That’s why you’re so close to him?”

“Yep. First, it was because I owed him. Then, I admired him. Now, he’s like family. I’d do anything for him.”

“I understand.”

“Sure? Because I can’t leave that life. I’m in it forever, girl.”

“You think I care about that? I told you who my best friend is married to.”

“Yeah, I’m still reeling from that. But the point of my story is that you might think burying shit is the way to go, but eventually, it all has to come out. Better to do it when you can control the outcome.”

She let out a deep breath. “I’ve been trying not to think about it and you think that’s why I keep freaking out? But I can’t even remember what happened.”

“I know, girl.” He tugged her over into his arms. “Whatever you need, I’m here. Whenever you want to talk, want me to distract you, want to scream and cry. I got you. I won’t ever let you go. Fucking promise, girl.”

She held onto him tight. Her anchor in the storm. Everything she needed.

And she let herself lose control. Let it all out. Maybe she couldn’t remember and never would. But she could let go of some of the fear while she was held safely in his arms.

Waking up had never felt like this before.

A moan escaped her as something flicked her clit. Her passage clenched, feeling empty and wanting to be filled.

She gasped, then opened her eyes and glanced down her body to the dark head of hair between her legs. Gray ate her pussy like a man starved and she was so close to the edge that her body ached with the need for release.

“Please, please, please,” she begged as he slid two fingers inside her.

Fuck. Fuck.

She wrapped her legs around his back, not wanting to risk him moving.

Not when she needed to come this badly.

“Oh. Oh. Ohhh, God!” she cried as she came. The release was incredible. The room spun. She closed her eyes as her body relaxed into a slump.

Dead. She was dead.

His tongue still lapped at her gently, as though cleaning her up. She really wished she had the energy to come again. But she could barely manage to breathe.

Gray moved up her body, kissing her tummy then drawing up her pajama top to suck on her nipples.

“Shoot. Just . . . give me a minute to recover.” She flopped one hand uselessly in the air. “Tired.”

“Take all the time you need, baby.”

She peered up at him as he moved over her, resting his weight on his hands.

“Good morning, Grumpy Bear.”

“Good morning, girl. Sleep well?”

“Hmm. Woke up well, anyway.”

He leaned in and kissed her, placing more of his weight on her.

Delicious. She loved the pressure against her body.

“Just well?”

“Oh, better than well. That was amazing, spectacular. You should definitely feel free to wake me up like that anytime.”

“Believe me, girl. I will be doing that every chance I get.”

“Now that sounds like fun. I might have to try waking up early so I can do that to you.”

He raised his eyebrows. “Do you not remember what you did to me in the night, girl?”

What?

Oh. It was morning and she hadn’t had a nightmare, had she?

“I didn’t have a nightmare!”

“No. You didn’t. You slept in my arms all night. Except for when you were attached to my cock.”

What?

Crap. Now, she remembered. At one stage in the night, she’d needed some extra comfort and she could remember sneaking down the bed, pushing his boxers down and . . . yep. Sucking on him.

“I, um, wow. Should I say sorry?”

“Wouldn’t have let you do that if I didn’t want you to. Although after you got me off for the third time, I thought my balls were going to shrivel to the size of peas.”

She had to giggle. “So you’re saying you’re not up to anything this morning?”

“Exactly. But we need to get up and moving, anyway. I’ve got to book us some plane tickets. Should have done it last night.” He rolled off her as he spoke, likely missed her completely freaked out face.

“Fly?” she asked.

He turned back, giving her a worried look. “Yeah, fly. How did you think we’d get home?”

“Drive?”

“Drive? Girl. That’s a twenty-four hour drive. And that’s going straight through.”

“I know. I’m sor . . .” she trailed off before she finished that word. Probably just as well considering the ferocious frown on his face.

“You don’t like flying?”

“Do I like getting in giant tin lizards that are defying the laws of gravity with someone I don’t know operating the aircraft that is about to possibly become my fiery and/or watery grave? Yeah, I’m not too fond of it.”

“Fiery and/or watery?”

“It could happen.”

“Scale of one to ten. One being you’re happy, ten being you’re terrified, where are you at when it comes to flying?”
