My face feels like it’s on fire, and I’m sure I look like a red tomato. Is my dildo still vibrating? I swear I can hear it going in my purse, but the leather bag under my hand is still, which means that it’s off. Oh goodness. I’m so discombobulated at this point, that I’m literally imagining things.

“Um,” I say in a somewhat trembling voice. “Well, it’s nice to meet you. I’m Penny. I’m here for the Take Your Daughter To Work Day event.”

He looks at me with surprise.

“Really? Aren’t you a little old?”

I let out a sigh and nod, defeated.

“Well, yes, and that’s what I told my dad too. But he insisted, because he wants me to see what “corporate life” is like,” I say with air quotes.

The dark man smiles with amusement.

“And who might your illustrious father be?”

I open my mouth to reply, but then snap it shut once more because I don’t want to tell him. This man just helped me pick up my dildo, so I don’t want him to connect me to my father. My dad would die of embarrassment if this story got out, and I’ve already made the situation bad enough.

“Oh you know,” I say, trying to hedge. “He’s just one of your many employees.”

The man smirks a bit.

“I have many employees,” he rumbles. “But here, in the Gainesville office, we’re pretty small and I pretty much know everyone. So who’s your Daddy, or so they say?”

I blush furiously again.

“Um, he works in janitorial services,” I say quickly, still trying to get out of this sticky situation. “You wouldn’t know him. He’s literally the guy who takes out the trash.”

Patrick waits patiently, so tall, handsome and imposing in his dark grey suit.

“No, I think I would,” he counters. “Like I said, we’re pretty close here in this office. I’ve met everyone that we’ve hired so far.”

Oh no. I’m trapped in a corner because evidently, this alpha male has a gift for faces and names. What are the chances he knows my dad? Seeing no way out, I relent.

“I’m Harold Lockwood’s daughter,” I mumble, looking at the floor again. “But don’t tell my dad about this okay?”

Patrick lets out a deep chuckle of laughter.

“You mean, the part about you falling, the part about you landing on your face, or the part about you bringing a dildo to Take Your Daughter To Work Day?”

I look up at him, my face flaming.

“All of it!” is my exasperated exclamation. “I’m well and truly embarrassed okay? I’m not even supposed to be here because I’m not interested in what an office environment looks like. I’m going to be a hairdresser. And I’ll have you know that I’m not usually so clumsy. In fact, I’m a rather talented rollerblader.”

“Really?” the CEO says with the corner of his mouth turned up in a smile. “And what about the … ahem, toy, that came spilling out of your bag?”

I try to think of a way out of this horrific situation, but the long and the short of it is that Patrick has me bested. He’s got me locked in a tiny room, and my breasts tremble and my lungs heave just being in this alpha male’s proximity.

“So …” I begin.

“Yes?” Patrick asks, one eyebrow quirked with amusment. “I’m waiting.”

I shoot him a dirty look.

“Listen, this event isn’t supposed to go on all day. As a result, I was going to spend a couple hours here getting to know Lancaster Industries, and then I’d drive myself over to the high school. But since I had some time to myself, I was going to … well, have some fun.”

Patrick shoots me a puzzled look.

“But where? In the women’s restroom? At your high school? In the bathroom there?”

I let out an exasperated gust of air.

“No. I don’t know. I was thinking my car, okay? I would have some fun in the backseat of my car with my battery-operated-boyfriend. There, are you satisfied?”

But evidently, the billionaire isn’t satisfied because he still has a raft of questions.

“But where in your car? In the parking lot of your high school? Or in the parking lot of Lancaster Industries?”

I glare at him.

“I didn’t have it worked out yet, okay? It’s just that I have so little time to myself these days that I have to use every free moment that comes along. I’m so busy, going from classes straight to my after-school job, and then I rush home to cook dinner for my dad. When I drop into bed at night, I’m exhausted. So yes, I wanted to take about twenty minutes out of my day today to have some BOB fun, and yes, maybe it would be in the parking lot of your company. No one would notice because I’d park way off in the corner away from other cars. And besides, it didn’t happen, so you don’t have to worry.”
