Hopefully by that point, he’d let me see his full little side.

It’d peeked out a few times, but I wanted the full experience of playing and coloring and seeing whatever little Camden found fascinating. I wasn’t sure what he thought a Daddy would do, but I knew how to spank and how to talk dirty to a sub, so I figured the rest couldn’t be too difficult.

Camden nibbled on his lower lip for a moment before nodding. “I’d like that.”

Well, so far so good.

“Would you also like me to remind you that you told me to ask two questions or am I supposed to forget that part?” My slightly cheeky question had him groaning again and looking up at the ceiling like he was hoping god would save him or strike him down with lightning.

Either seemed like it would work for the cute sub, but when nothing happened, he sighed and looked down at his lap again. Neither drama nor wiggling shyly was a safeword, though, so I waited. I wasn’t sure if that was what a Daddy would do, but as a Dom, that was what had always come naturally to me.

It seemed to be the right way to handle the situation when he sighed and started confessing. “I’d never really thought about anything like that…not that there’s anything wrong with it…I just hadn’t thought about it, and when you were talking about it, the first thing that came to mind was that it would probably be soft.”

Hmm, interesting.

Before I could try to subtly ask what else he’d thought about, his rambling thoughts kept going. “Men’s clothes can be itchy unless you buy really high-end stuff…and if you walk around in pajamas all day long, you end up looking like the Playboy guy.”

That had me chuckling. “I think you’d need the smoking jacket to pull that look off, but yeah, I can see what you mean.”

I’d run into a lot of artists who couldn’t work wearing anything because they said fabric against their skin was distracting, but something about Camden’s expression said that wasn’t everything he was thinking.

“The clothes thing is fairly common with the artists I’ve met.” Taking his comment at face value for the time being, I ignored his surprised expression. “I know more than a few who paint naked, and one guy has opened his front door naked so many times the police got involved.”

“No.” Camden’s shocked look said he wasn’t a rule breaker.

“Yep, they were nice about it, but he’s basically had to put up a sign on his door that warns people. Luckily, he lives in a small town and they’ve waved it off as him being odd.” In a bigger city, he would’ve been in serious trouble, but his was so small, he was just their token oddball.

Letting out a nervous giggle, Camden shook his head. “That would be…no, I’d never do that.”

I couldn’t resist laughing and teasing him. “So no exhibitionism fantasies?”

Going a fiery red, his hands came up and waved in front of him. “No. I…that’s. No, thank you?”

So cute.

“That’s perfectly fine.” Taking another sip of my water as the timer on the stove and the timer for our hour kept ticking away, I smiled. “I don’t need to share in any way to be happy.”

That did not help his ability to get his blush under control, but he looked relieved at the response. “Good…I…I’m not in the closet or anything like that, but I’m a private person when it comes to that kind of stuff.”

I thought my blank face was pretty good but evidently not.

Camden went quiet and studied me. “Should I pretend that didn’t just make your eye twitch?”

Shit.

Now I was the one sighing. “If it’s too early for issues with an ex kind of confessions, we can ignore it. If you’re curious or just want to make sure you understand why that’s a bit of a minefield for me, we can talk about it.”

His lips tightened before he sat straighter and seemed to be aiming to look serious. “The last one. I need to make sure I don’t hurt your feelings or upset you inadvertently.”

That was the sweetest thing anyone had said to me in a very long time.

“I appreciate that.” But it still sucked to talk about. “I dated a guy I met through work for about six months. He didn’t work for me, so there was nothing like that. We met at an event the gallery hosted.”

I waited until Camden nodded, acknowledging he understood I wasn’t dating my secretary or anything like that before I continued. The worst thing a boss could do was harass an employee, so I wanted that to be clear. “The big problem was that he wasn’t out to his family.”

I hadn’t understood how hard that would be.

“He had a few friends he would let me be around because they knew, but that was it. No real dates. No going to events together. By the end, he would snap at me if I so much as talked to him in public. There were other issues piling up, but I just couldn’t handle the anger and the mistrust.” I also couldn’t handle the constant put-downs when I wouldn’t play as hard as he wanted.
