Damn. He was right.

The tension slipped from her shoulders.

“Let’s both promise not to keep things from each other again, okay?” he said.

“Yeah, I can agree to that. But what are we going to do from here?”

He leaned back to cup her face. “I know it’s a different sort of relationship. Especially when we don’t know much about him and what I do know . . .”

“What you do know?” she prompted.

He grimaced. “There’s a reason why he goes by a fake name, and why no one ever knows exactly what he looks like. He’s a master of disguise because he has to be.”

“Tell me,” she insisted, growing worried.

“The Fox is . . . he’s an assassin for hire.”

He stared down at her, clearly waiting for her reaction.

“Yeah, I figured.” Relief filled her. Was that the big reveal?

“You . . . figured?”

“Yep.”

“And that doesn’t . . . doesn’t worry you?”

“No. He saved me, Brody. He might have done bad things before, but I know there’s good in him too. I’m not worried.”

“He kills people for money.”

“Yes, but the senator was a bad person.”

“And what if he hasn’t always killed just bad people?” he asked.

“We all have murky pasts, don’t we?”

Brody shook his head. “Maybe you are perfect for him. For both of us. There’s something else . . . about the money you won . . .”

“Oh my God. For Fox Sake. And Freddy Fox! He gave me both of them! So the money did come from him?” It actually made her feel a bit better knowing where it had come from.

“Yeah, it seems that way.”

Whoa. It was hard to believe he’d given her all that money.

“How do you feel about all of this, though?” she asked him.

“I find it hard to wrap my head around. Being attracted to someone like that. But I know he’s done a lot of good things too.” He stared at the floor, clearly uncomfortable.

Worry flooded her. “Brody, if you can’t be around him because of that, I understand.”

Brody shook his head. “That’s just it . . . I don’t know. Part of me wants to know him better. You’re not the only one attracted to him; I feel it too. I want him too.”

And if he was a Daddy Dom, he could give them what they both needed.

“You know, maybe we’re overthinking this,” Brody added. “We could just go with it. See where things with him goes. We all want each other and he . . . he could give us something we both need.”

“I like the idea of that. As long as you’re mine.”

“I’m yours. I’m always yours. I love you,” he told her.

She sucked in a breath, tears filling her eyes. “You do?”

“Yes. Although, I planned to tell you that differently. Something romantic. See . . . I’d programmed my robot to . . . never mind. That was probably just nerdy and stupid.”

“Nothing about you is stupid,” she told him fiercely. “And I love you too.”

“You do?” Happiness lit up his face.

“Yes. And nothing comes between us.”

“Never. If he becomes a part of our relationship, it doesn’t make what we have any less. It should only make it better. Okay?”

“Damn, when did you get so smart, Brody-bear?” she asked.

He grinned. “Comes with being a nerd. Come open your gifts.”

“Okie-dokie.” She picked up Freddy Fox, from where he’d been beside her on the sofa. “Let’s see if you’ve been a good boy, Freddy Fox.”

He watched her face light up as she unwrapped another of the Fox’s gifts. He had to admit, the asshole knew exactly what to buy her. She drew out a gorgeous outfit. It was a pinafore dress with bunny ears on the front and a tail on the back.

“It’s so cute! I’ll have to wear a long-sleeved top with it, though. Not this one.” She held up the white, short-sleeved top meant to go under the dress.

“You don’t need to always wear long-sleeved things, Tutu,” he told her. “You can wear whatever you like.”

She rubbed at her wrists self-consciously, making him sad.

“Your scars are a part of you and all of you is beautiful.”

She stared at him with a small smile. “You always know just what to say.”

He really didn’t. Sometimes, he just got lucky.

“I was thinking about trying wristbands,” she whispered. “For when it’s warmer, if I go out.”

He nodded. “That could work.”

Small steps. She wasn’t going to just get past everything in a day. And if she felt more comfortable with wristbands that seemed a step in the right direction.

He hoped.

Then she grabbed another present. Inside was a baby bottle with a large nipple. It had a picture of a fox on the front and Foxy Baby was written along the bottom.

“He’s spent time with your Little?”

“She tends to come out around him.” She chewed her lip. “Do you think that you might like him to be your Daddy? That you might submit to him? Because I know that you need that too. That you could use someone to, uh . . .”
