Oh no. Did they think she was actually ill? Great, they probably thought that she was giving them her germs.

“I’m not ill,” she said quickly. “It was just all the swaying and stuff.”

Grady raised his eyebrows. “You got car sick?”

“Ah, yeah. That happens sometimes. All right, a lot. But especially when I’m riding backward.”

Steele’s arm tightened around her waist, squeezing her to the point where she might throw up again.

“Um, if you don’t want me to puke again, you might want to ease up,” she said, tapping his arm.

Steele eased up. Then, to her shock, he picked her up and carried her back to the car.

But he didn’t hold her bridal style. Nope, he moved her to his side so she was sitting on his hip. Like a child.

A flush of pleasure filled her. Even though she knew she couldn’t read anything into it, she couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like if he were her Daddy Dom.

Sure, he was kind of gruff and to the point. Bossy as hell.

But if she was his, she knew that no one would ever dare harm her. Because Steele wouldn’t allow it. She gave herself a few seconds to live in her fantasyland.

But reality always found a way to intrude.

Which really, really sucked.

When Steele settled her in the car, she was in his seat.

Damon Steele was going to give up his seat for her?

Then she realized that, nope, he was not. Because he slid her along into the middle seat before climbing in. And then Grady got in on her other side.

I’m in the middle of a Steele-Grady sandwich.

And there went her mind again, off to fantasyland where she got to be in a Steele-Grady sandwich.

A naked sandwich.

Yikes.

This wasn’t good. The heat coming off them was incredible and there was no way for her to not touch them. Steele was far too wide to avoid. In fact, they were both kind of pinning her back with their shoulders.

“Seatbelt,” Steele said gruffly.

She tried to reach it, but his shoulder was in the way. In the end, he half-spun, facing her, and then she was able to grab the belt. However, the intense look on his face made her fumble.

Grady grabbed it and drew it over her, clicking it into place.

“I . . . um . . . you guys . . . this is weird,” she blurted out.

“What is?” Grady asked.

“Um, I don’t know. Maybe sitting like this between two men I barely know who are taking me shoe shopping.”

And had just held her while she heaved.

Shoot. She needed a mint. Where was her handbag?

“Don’t forget about gloves,” Steele muttered. “You need new gloves.”

“No one said anything about gloves,” she squealed, feeling herself getting slightly hysterical. “I draw the line at gloves.”

“Hear that, Grady?” Steele asked, sounding far too amused for her liking.

“Yep, she draws the line at gloves.”

“Nice to know where the line is, Spitfire. But gotta be honest, I like pushing boundaries.”

She closed her eyes.

“Probably not a good idea to close your eyes while in the car if you have motion sickness,” Grady pointed out as he tapped on his phone. “It’s more likely to make you sicker.”

“Should she be sitting in the back?” Steele asked.

“Hmm, she’s less likely to get sick while sitting in the front passenger seat,” Grady replied.

She wasn’t normally the sort of person who looked at what others were doing on their phones. But she happened to glance down and see that Grady was on a site about limiting the effects of motion sickness.

Well, that was sweet, even if it was strange behavior for a boss.

“But it’s safer for her to be in the back in the event of a crash,” Grady added. “Although we probably should have put her on the side.”

“I like her better between us. Feels safer,” Steele said.

“She’s certainly not moving.” Grady stared down at her. “Are you all right there, sweetheart?”

“I can barely breathe.”

It was Steele’s turn to stare down at her. “You look like a little kid. Maybe what she needs is a booster seat, since she’s so tiny.”

“Tiny? Me? Have you seen my ass?”

Suddenly, they both grew still and it seemed like the air had been sucked out of the car.

“Not liking the way you keep putting yourself down,” Steele said in a dark voice. “And you might want to stop.”

Don’t ask. Don’t ask.

“Or what?”

Shit. She had to ask.

“Or I’ll turn your ass red.”

“Steele,” Grady warned.

Steele sighed. “Fuck it. Employee.”

“Employee,” Grady repeated.

Huh?

She wasn’t keeping up. Sometimes it seemed like they were having a conversation between the two of them and she was missing the secret code.

“That sucks. She needs a good spanking.”

“You want to spank me?” she asked in a high-pitched voice.

“Yeah, my hand is really twitchy.” Steele held his hand up.

“Oh no. Do you need to see a doctor about that?” she asked.
