And maybe dressing up, especially in your graduation dress, is drawing a little too much attention to yourself.

Not that a real estate’s opinion really matters, but he did give me a strange look when he saw what I was wearing.

Most folks in town get about in work clothes or just jeans and a sweater. Yes, even when they go out to dinner.

So after changing in and out of a few more outfits and combinations, I really am right back where I started. The same jeans and sweater I had on earlier, and only so I can hug myself and smell Brandon still on me.

Curling up on my bed after feeling my sleepless night catching up to me, I slip into a light sleep.

A smile plays on my lips, and the scent of my man fills my senses. Dreamy thoughts of his body and everything he wants to do to mine flood my mind until the fading daylight and a cold shiver tell me I’ve done more than just doze off.

I slept through the whole afternoon.

Jolting wide awake, I stumble through piles of clothes to find my phone. I check to see if I missed a call from dad or maybe even Brandon, but there’s nothing.

And it’s almost six o’clock.

The sound of two cars pulling into the drive and my dad’s truck giving a little toot of greeting should set my mind at ease.

I should be able to see my dad and Brandon in the same room without having a nervous breakdown.

Shouldn’t I?

Hearing the front door unlock and open, Brandon’s deep voice echoing down the hall as he and dad joke about something, I wonder how any of this is really gonna go.

Can I sit through an entire meal without giving away the fact that all I want is Brandon tearing my clothes off, kissing me like he did this afternoon?

Only one way to find out.

I wait for my dad’s usual knock on my door instead of rushing out to greet him.

As much as I crave Brandon’s lips right now, it would be a dead giveaway if I came bounding out of my room like a dog in heat.

“Sorry we’re late,” my dad says in a low voice. “I’m just gonna shower and change. Be ten minutes,” he adds quickly before closing the door again.

“No rush,” I call after him, feeling my mouth widen to a broad smile.

The familiar tingle of electricity is starting to simmer between my legs.

My breathing gets faster once I hear the shower faucet after a few minutes, and it’s only really seconds after that Brandon’s huge frame fills the doorway.

Both of us launch ourselves at each other before he kisses me harder and faster.

A deep, passionate kiss that ends in shorter bursts as we try to talk at the same time.

“I’ve missed you so bad,” Brandon growls, gnawing at my neck and making me gasp when his huge hand slides between my legs.

“And I thought we were… gonna keep our… distance,” I wheeze, almost forgetting where I am as I feel the circuit of current running between Brandon’s hand and my smoldering mound.

“I’ve gotta tell him,” Brandon says suddenly, and it takes a moment for it to register with my cloudy brain.

“Tell who?” I ask, but looking into Brandon’s eyes, I know exactly what he’s talking about.

Or rather who he’s talking about.

“We haven’t even done anything, Brandon,” I hiss, waving my hands to signal him to keep his voice down.

I wonder what’s made him so keen to spill the beans to my dad.

“What are you gonna say anyway?” I ask, suddenly wondering just how hard it would be to keep us a secret forever.

Keeping us secret, maybe. Keeping our hands off each other until nobody else is around?

Probably never gonna happen at this rate. The bathroom’s right next to my bedroom, and Brandon’s been in here all of thirty seconds, and we’re already at it.

“I dunno,” Brandon huffs. “But I’m not gonna lie to my best friend.”

This kind of thing should be killing the moment, but the thrill of having Brandon in my room like this, with my dad only feet away. It’s an unexpected turn-on for me, and as much as I try to scold Brandon for even saying he wants to tell my dad, I also know I want him now more than ever.

“I want you more than anything, May,” Brandon says firmly, kissing me hard again as he echoes my thoughts while turning me into mush in his arms.

“I want all of you, us. A baby in your belly and a house with a white picket fence, I want all of that with you, May, and it’s not something I think I can keep a secret much longer.”

“I want that too,” I whisper between kisses, still unsure if I’m fending off his hands or guiding them over the parts of me that need his touch the most.
