The night has been a blast, the best birthday I’ve had in recent years. Still, it’s time to go home and fall asleep to the memories of Coop and his hard cock, his ripped body, and that gorgeous face all wrapped up in bad-boy leather and denim.

“Come on, let’s get out of here before I go back for thirds.”

Ruby’s eyes widen with a gasp. “Thirds?”

“Yep. The bathroom was perfect, hot and hard and out of fucking control. The pool table was public, inadvisable, and I’m getting a lady boner just reliving it in my head.”

“Holy shit, girl, get it!” Ruby claps and stomps her feet on the brass rail at the bottom of the bar.

“All I got was some hot mouth action over by the jukebox.” She pushes her red lips out in a pout and finishes her beer. “All right, let’s blow this popsicle stand.”

We push away from the bar and land on wobbly legs. “Uh-oh, incoming.”

Ruby turns just as those two guys with the guy Coop called Nogales stop at the bar. She steps slightly in front of me, a natural protector. “Let’s go. Now.”

They stop in front of us. “You bitches are coming with us.”

“We’re not,” Ruby insists. “And the next heel goes in your fucking eyeball.”

One of them laughs at the same time Joaquin yanks the other back by his hair. “Stay the fuck away,” he growls and smiles at Ruby for a quick second before he starts beating the ever-loving shit out of that guy.

Coop arrives a split second later, glowering at the sight of those two guys punching his friend.

“Two against one? I don’t fucking think so.” Chaos reigns in the bar as Nogales stomps over to us with a smile.

Fists fly, which is kind of hot, but then glass starts flying, and chairs start breaking. I know we need to go. This is our chance to get away without getting hurt, but I can’t look away from the sight of Coop, face twisted in anger. He’s breathtaking.

“Oh shit,” I breathe out, a little hot, and a whole lot turned on again.

Coop chooses that moment to look up at me, a scowl on his face.

“Go! Get out now,” he shouts before Nogales turns and lands a grazing blow to his jaw. “Get the fuck out and don’t come back,” he growls and then unleashes the hottest rage-fueled beating on that creep.

“Come on, Kels. Let’s go.” Ruby pulls me out of the bar because I can’t turn away. I can’t stop watching Coop’s big capable hands land blow after blow. His jaws clench, nostrils flare, and his lip is just a little bit bloody. It’s hot as hell.

Thankfully, the cool southern California evening acts like a bucket of cold water on my overheated body. “Holy crap! That was crazy.”

Ruby laughs and rolls her eyes as she slides into the passenger seat of my two-year-old Lexus, an early graduation gift from my daddy.

“Girl, I’m just glad we got out of there alive. ”

The road from the bar is mostly dark since it’s on a back highway, and I keep both hands on the wheel as I navigate us back toward my parent’s place near Angel Harbor.

“Anything happen with you and Joaquin?”

“We were just making out by the jukebox,” Ruby sighed. “He had a brilliant mouth, and his tongue was magic.”

“I got laid in the bathroom,” I say with a grin. “Unfortunately, I’ll probably never see that big dick hottie again.”

It’s too bad because Coop is a lay I could get used to. The perfect break from the stress of senior year.

The lights in my dash flash on with a series of sputtering and choking, and then the digital display fades to black.

“Oh shit, not again.”

“Again?” Ruby grips the door handle, jaws tight until the Lexus finally sputters to a stop. “I swear to fuck, girl. You’re the only rich kid I know who’s happy to ride around in a hooptie. Doesn’t your daddy have enough money to get you a decent car?”

“Hooptie? This car is just two years old, Rubes. It should be fine. Probably some manufacturing fuck up.”

She nods. “And it would be in excellent condition if you ever took in to get serviced. Have you even gotten an oil change this year?”

“I don’t know. That’s not my job. But this is not the way I thought my birthday would end.” I let out a long sigh. “I’ll call Daddy. He’ll come to get us.”

I love my father, really I do, but he’s incapable of having a conversation without telling me what a disappointment I am to him, how I’m not living up to my potential.

Living in his house, living off his money, means I have no choice but to listen. “You can’t just come and get us?”

“No, Kelsey, I can’t just interrupt my plans because you refuse to behave as an adult.” There’s a pregnant pause before he finishes. “Just have the auto service tow it to Ace Motors. They have a good reputation in town.”
