“What’s happening?” I ask, slipping off the edge of the desk, fearing the worst, but he comes around and wraps me up in a tight hug and kisses me and he’s laughing, he’s laughing so hard I can feel his chest heave and his abs tense. He kisses me and swings me around.
“He’s awake! He’s awake! Fynn’s awake!” He spins and spins and kisses me and hugs me and if there are tears in his eyes, well, that’s okay.
“You’re joking? You’re serious?”
“Right now, he’s awake. I have to go. I’m so sorry, Olivia, but I have to run.”
“Go, go, we’ll see you later. But wait, hold on.” I pull him against me and kiss him and pull him down to whisper in his ear. “I love you, Casso. And I’m pregnant.”
He stares at me in shock. His mouth falls open and he doesn’t move, and for a moment the world stops spinning, it’s just me and him locked in time. But then he’s kissing me and hugging me and now I’m crying because I’m such a baby, and he’s grinning so big his face might break.
“This is the best day of my life,” he says. “My perfect wife is pregnant and my brother’s awake. God, I love you so much, we have so much to talk about.”
“Go to Fynn. We can discuss everything later.”
“I love you.” He kisses me again, laughs once, shakes his head, holds me at arm’s length, and laughs again. “Fucking pregnant. God, I’m so happy right now.”
He releases me and leaves, shaking his head as he goes.
I collapse back against the desk, grinning from ear to ear.
Fynn’s awake and I’m about to have a baby.
Life doesn’t get better.
