“So…I’m only eighteen.”

“Eighteen?”

“Yes. The state allows you to work in a bar, but I can’t drink.”

“Ha. Asshole. You’re a decade older than her. We’re even. Now can you please get ready so I can marry your sister already. Fuck, I’m running out of patience.”

“Come on, baby. Let’s get dressed.” I take the garment bags and walk to my room. Letting her go first, I watch her sexy ass. And that’s when I see it. I’m fucking lucky there’s another dress for her. She has a wet spot on her dress.

We get back down to the limo and Jason joins us. He has some friends and family attending the wedding, but he’s not supposed to see my sister until the wedding, so he waited back for me.

Once we’re there, they have a tent for my sister to come out of. The chairs are set up perfectly on the beach for the dozen or so guests.

Chapter Six

Aviana

Missy is not only amazingly beautiful, she’s sweet as well. I can’t believe she let me be such a big part of her wedding. The music begins, and I take my place, standing in front of these strangers. I receive a couple of appreciative glances from a few guys, but I ignore them. The only one I care about is coming out with his sister’s arm linked with his as Cole leads her down the aisle.

I stare at him, loving the way his eyes stay on me. He’s handsome, so freaking handsome that I’m not sure what he sees in me. I know a big part is sexual, but there has to be more. I mean, there’s plenty of sexy half-naked chicks all over this island. He saw me, and it’s the same expression he has now—one of pure desire.

He glances down at his sister as they arrive at the altar, and I see pride. He’s impossibly perfect. My body tingles, thinking how much he wants me. Cole gives her away and takes his seat, that’s in front of me. I smile at him, and then I catch the expression on Bishop’s face. He’s smiling every time he looks at me.

It’s amusing to him that he knows Cole had sex. It’s almost as if he acts like his brother’s never done it before. Cole’s super sexy and has probably laid plenty of women in his life. I roll my eyes at Bishop and return my attention to the wedding. I hear a low growl coming from Cole’s seat.

They make it through the wedding without Cole killing his brother, but the second I’m supposed to walk back down the aisle, Cole jumps in and steals the best man’s job. “Nope. Your turn is over. She’s mine.”

I giggle because that’s clearly not how that works. “You know that isn’t supposed to happen.”

“I’ve been sitting there for an eternity, watching several bastards admiring your beauty and holding it in, so I don’t ruin my sister’s wedding.”

“It was fifteen minutes.” I roll my eyes at him. It’s so damn sexy that he’s territorial and jealous.

“I don’t like fuckers looking at you for more than a second, so it was fourteen minutes and fifty-nine seconds too long.”

“Oh, Cole. What am I going to do with you?” I shake my head and smile up at him.

“Let me worship you forever.”

“Don’t break my heart, Cole.” I walk away, feeling overwhelmed by the idea of forever, but then I’m reminded that my parents promised forever and left me stranded on a beach. It’s strange how someone could make me feel something it took my parents a lifetime to make me feel. I love him and I’m sure of it. It’s going to kill me if he ever leaves me. I hurry over to an empty part of the beach, hoping to be left alone, and at the same time, hoping Cole doesn’t give me the space.

“Aviana. Stop. Don’t walk away from me.” I stop, but I don’t turn around as tears roll down my face. He steps behind me, his chest touching my shoulders and his forehead pressing against the back of my head. “I don’t know why you’re running, but know this, I’ll never stop chasing. From the moment I met you, I found my home. I knew that when I looked at you, I was in trouble.”

I bite my bottom lip as I stare into his ocean blue eyes. “Trouble?”

“Yes, of pissing off my brother and stealing you…And trying to find a way to make you stay with me.” I’ve only known him a day, but my heart wants to trust him. My mind is telling me only time will tell. Can I risk it? Risk what? My heart. It’s the only thing I have left and even he’s taken a big piece of it.

“I want to believe you. I do…But…you know my parents promised they’d be right back. They never came back.”
