She appeared in the doorway dressed in a robe and looking fresh from the shower. “Ay-ya, ever since you learned my name, you’ve been wearing it out. Had a nice nap?” I glared at her, but really, I wanted to laugh. How the hell does she keep doing this to me? Is this what our life together is going to be like?

I remember talking to her about her thing with Susie and getting upset all over again. I remember listening to her explain about the car, the apartment, all of it. Just when I got really mad and accused her of using me, manipulating me, lying to me, that’s where I drew a blank.

I do remember the kiss; I just don’t remember how we got from me about to turn her over my knee to kissing and now this. “Weren’t we having a serious conversation? How did we get here?” She started to walk her ass into the room, “stay right there, don’t come any closer.”

“Awe, but why?” The pout, I remember the pout; that’s the bastard that got me the last time. I stared at her dumbfounded for a few seconds before I caught myself. Don’t look at it, don’t look at it; it’s kryptonite. I snapped my eyes shut and held out my hand in warning. I think she snickered, little shit.

Okay, I’m pretty sure Cody would accuse me of manipulating him again or whatever since the thought never entered my head, but I have no idea why I can take him down so easily when it comes to the physical stuff. I’d laid next to him after he passed out trying to piece it together, but nothing came to mind.

He’d been gearing up to do something, or at least he’d threatened to ‘heat my little ass up’ as he’d so succinctly put it, and as I’m afraid of pain of any kind, I’d used the only weapon at my disposal. A pout and tears, they’ve worked for me all my life, and grandma swears that having a hissy fit every once in a while is good for the soul. She has about three a week, and it keeps grandpa in line.

I have no intentions of doing such a thing; at least, I hadn’t planned on it. But he’d looked so serious when he said it, and he’d been getting angrier by the second the more I explained, so I think it just happened. I pouted and got dewy-eyed a little, and he softened.

The next thing I knew, we were kissing, my clothes came off, and we ended up in here. I may or may not have been the aggressor the second and third time, but definitely not the first; that was all him. I have to figure out how to do this sex thing without getting sore, though, or like he’d said when he coerced me that last time, it will get better the more we do it.

“Did you just laugh?”

“Why are your eyes closed and your head turned, Cody?” I started to walk into the room again, but he stopped me.

“I told you to stay where you are.” He opened his eyes long enough to look across the room, “sit over there.” He pointed to one of the two chairs across the room.

“You’re being ridiculous.” The bedroom alone is about twice the size of his dorm or more. We’d be shouting to hear each other speak. “I’m not going to do anything to you, I promise. I’ll just sit here on the end of the bed away from you, is that fine?” Don’t laugh, or he’d sulk.

He didn’t look too convinced, and he almost snatched his leg out of the way when I sat on the bed like I promised. “Cody, I wasn’t trying to manipulate you; the thought never entered my mind. I just think that what Susie did was abominable and that she shouldn’t get away with it. Wouldn’t you feel the same if I were the one it had happened to?”

“Yes, no question, but the fact still remains that you did it without me. I’m not just upset because that was a dangerous thing to do, but because it just feels wrong the way you went about it behind my back.” I knew I shouldn’t have left him around mom for too long; he’d picked up one of her nasty little tricks.

I know all about feeling wrong, about being left out of the big decisions, including the ones that involved me. “So, you’re saying I should’ve told you what I was planning to do.” He nodded his head. “But then you wouldn’t have let me do it.” The pout came out, I even heard it in my voice, and he snapped his head around again, hiding his eyes from me.

I crawled over to him and climbed into his lap. “Get off!”
