“What’s wrong with that?” I ask, feeling proud of Pixie for her impact on her friends.

“What’s wrong? I wanna give Des my name and my kid. I want to grow our family, not see who can make the biggest cantaloupe or honeydew, unless that refers to the melons of her tits.”

“Baby fever, brother?” Ice asks, and I laugh. “Never saw that comin’.”

“Nah, I got Des fever.” Hammer’s reply is confident. “Woman keeps me hot.”

I sit in the chair, relaxed and totally understanding how he feels. I never imagined this would be the life I could have. One bump and two energies connected later, and I have balance … and happiness.

Shit doesn’t get much better.

Well, unless I could make Pixie my wife. Damn, it’s a foreign feeling, but a good one.

“Trevor,” I say his name softly while I chop vegetables. He comes up behind me, caging me in. My pulse quickens in want. “Honey, I need to tell you something.”

He kisses my neck, his beard brushing against my exposed skin and causing me to shiver. “Yeah, tell me anything, Pixie.”

“Um … I …” Pausing, I try to focus as his lips continue to tease my skin. “Trevor, you don’t gotta leave, but um …”

He hums against my neck, and I swear my panties dampen with each second.

“Well, honey, you can’t stay here,” I finish.

“What?” he asks sharply, pulling away and causing me to turn around to study him. “Pixie, I’ve been here every night for over a month. At this point, I have more shit here than my own place.”

“It’s girls’ night. You aren’t a girl last time I checked.”

He relaxes and laughs. Then he steps forward and kisses me.

Lost in the sensations, I find myself pawing at his clothes, all thoughts gone.

“I’ll show you just how much of a man I am.”

And he does, right here in my kitchen.

With only five minutes to clean up and finish, it’s a mad scramble to be ready for Des and Morgan to arrive.

Coal casually strolls upstairs after helping me put my clothes back on, calling out, “Pixie, think it’s time we live together, yeah?”

With his back to me, I throw a fist bump in the air, celebrating because I want nothing more than to have this man with me as much as I can.

“Yeah, Trevor, I like that.”

He reappears with his boots in hand. “Gonna go check on things at the clubs. Text when you finish girl time, and I’ll be home.”

I smile, feeling it fill my entire face. “Home. I love the sound of it.”

There is a knock at the front door, interrupting us just as I press my lips to his.

“My cue to leave. Be home later, Pixie.” Trevor smiles as he finishes getting his boots on.

I go about finishing the vegetable tray while he lets Morgan and Desirae come in with quick hellos and good-byes to them.

I give a wave as I rush to my room to clean up and change from my kitchen time with Coal. When I come back down the small stairs, I can’t help laughing at the looks on my friends’ faces.

“What’s going on, guys?” I ask as I see these two holding something behind their backs and looking like little kids with a secret.

“Tonight, we are welcoming you to the fold!” Morgan says as they both take boxes from behind their backs.

“We had to research to find the right stuff for your lifestyle,” Des explains, opening a box with black boots while Morgan opens a box with what looks like a black leather biker jacket.

“Um … What’s this for?”

“You’re a biker chick now, so you gotta look the part,” Des explains.

Morgan adds, “Look, Brett—Ice, he’s all about being safe. You gotta wear denim because it’s thick in case you are in an accident. We know you have an aversion to wearing leather, so we found a vegan-approved company to make this jacket and these boots. We want you to be safe when you ride with your man, and of course, when we all go out.”

Tears fill my eyes at their thoughtfulness. “I don’t know what to say.”

Des smirks with a hand on her hip. “You say thanks, and then we get you ready for when Coal gets home to knock his socks off!” She laughs to herself. “Or rock his socks off!”

Chapter Seventeen

~Coal~

Seeing her dressed like a biker’s ol’ lady does something to me. It’s more than a punch-to-the-gut sort of thing. It’s a stops-my-heartbeat-dead-in-its-tracks thing. Paisley always looks beautiful, but dressed like this, it’s like she’s trying to show me that she wants to become one with my world. It means more to me than I know how to say.

I sure as fuck know how I can express it to her, though.

“Come here, Pixie.”

She doesn’t move from where she’s standing. She simply nibbles on her bottom lip like she does every time she’s nervous. “Do you like it? I’m sorry I couldn’t do the real leather like the others, but I just can’t know something died for me to wear it,” she rambles, and it’s cute.
