“Okay,” I mumble. She looks angry and firm and it’s actually pretty fucking hot. I didn’t know I was into women talking to me like this and taking charge, but there’s something sexy about her strength in this moment.

“Good,” she says, smiling. “Now, I need an excuse.”

“An excuse?”

“To get out of this date.”

“You can just… tell him the truth.”

“Tell him the truth. Brilliant. I should’ve thought of that.”

I sigh. “What’s wrong with that?”

“I can’t tell him the truth. It’ll insult him.”

“He doesn’t seem like that kind of guy.”

“He’s rich and he’s a man. He’s that kind of guy.”

I sigh, leaning back in my chair. She straightens up, crosses her arms.

“I’m sorry, Leah. I don’t know what to say.”

“Yeah, well, fine. At least you don’t have to be a jerk about this.”

“I’m not.”

“You are. You know I don’t want to go out with him.”

“Do I?”

She glares at me. “What kind of girl do you think I am?”

I stare at her for a second and let out a breath. It feels like I’ve been holding that forever, and it finally makes me relax a little bit. “Okay, okay. You’re right.”

“I know that.”

I stand up and come around my desk. She watches as I kiss her softly, hands on her hips.

“I still need to get out of this thing, you know,” she says.

“Tell him the truth. Tell him you have a Daddy already, and he’s keeping you nice and happy.”

She grins. “I bet he’d like that.”

“Is he into that sort of thing?”

“Probably. I bet he’d want to join in.”

“Gross. He’s not my type.”

“What, just because he’s a man?”

“Pretty much.”

She grins, kisses me again. “I’ll think of something. Just, don’t get all angry again, okay?”

“Fine,” I grunt.

“Good.”

I squeeze her hand and she turns away from me, heading to the door. “By the way, I was thinking of staying late tonight to spend time in the Jacuzzi again.” She gives me a little smile. “Just in case you wanted to know.”

She waves and leaves my office. I watch her go, grinning despite myself. The thought of her in that bikini again, sliding up and down my cock, drives me fucking wild.

I want this girl. I hate that someone else wants her. But she’s right.

I have to trust her. At least a little bit. I can’t just assume she’ll run off with Atlas. I can’t believe every rumor I hear.

Still, there’s one other thing bothering me. I’m her boss, just like Atlas. I can’t help but wonder if she said yes to me just because she was afraid I’d fire her or something like that. I don’t want to think this all started because she was afraid to say no to me.

Nothing I can do about it now. All I can do is be more careful. She’s mine, and it doesn’t matter how it happened.

It only matters that I have her, and I’m not letting her go.

The crowd screams in excitement as the guys slowly mill around the center of the field.

Cole gets swamped by reporters and coaches, all congratulating him on beating the Patriots 28-0. Nobody thought we had any chance, but Sean played like it his life depended on it.

Although he took a few hard hits. I spot him limping around with the other guys, shaking hands, hugging other players, a huge grin on his face. But behind that smile, I can see the grimace.

I walk over to Sean, hands holding my clipboard. I want to go talk to Cole, tell him how proud I am, maybe even kiss him, but I know that’s stupid. I can’t take that kind of risk. He’d be upset with me if I did something that public.

Instead, I have to do my job. Keep myself focused.

Otherwise, I’ll just stand around obsessing about how good Cole makes me feel.

“You’re not looking too good,” I call out over the din of the crowd.

Sean grins at me, turning away from a couple of guys. “I think I look great right now. I’m a winner.”

“You’re limping around. Come on, let me have a look.”

He sighs. “You’re no fun, you know that?”

“One win doesn’t matter, you gotta win a lot more games.”

He sighs again but nods grimly. I lead him off the field, back down the tunnel, and into the back offices.

“Everyone else gets to have fun right now, you know,” he says.

“Boo, hoo, poor rich quarterback,” I say, grinning at him.

He grins back. “You’re gonna get yourself fired, you know. I’m the star of this team.”

“And I’m the star of this training staff. They’d fire you before me.”

He laughs but it quickly turns into a grunt as I start to bend his ankle.

“That hurts?” I ask.

He nods tightly. “Not too bad.”

“You just played half a game like this, didn’t you?”

“Yep, pretty much.”

“Shit. Sean.”

He shrugs helplessly. “What can I do? I couldn’t sit out and risk losing my job.”
