Me: Good morning. I’m heading over now. Do you need me to stop and pick anything up for today?

Drake: Just you. Travis and Raelynn picked up my order. It’s you and me, food, drinks. Just the two of us. Drive safely.

Me: Can’t wait and always.

The entire time to Drake’s place, I dance in my seat, sing to music off key, and within fifteen minutes, I’m pulling into his driveway. After the first day I was there, he gave me a gate key. It kind of looks like a garage door opener. From some of the few things Drake’s told me about his time in the military and now with working at Nighthawk Security, his privacy and safety are things he won’t budge on.

His home really is beautiful. The fact that he wants to fill it with love and a big family only makes me fall for him more. I pull around to the side of his house where the garage is located, park behind it, turn my car off, grab my phone, throw it in my bag, and turn in my seat to open the door.

“Drake,” I squeal. He’s at my door. With it wide open, his head sneaks in, his left hand snakes around my neck, and he kisses me. Holy shit, Drake Martinez can kiss. He doesn’t give, oh no, that’s not him. He takes, and I let him take my mouth, our lips meeting. His tongue sneaks out, licking my lips, causing me to moan. Drake takes advantage. It’s all consuming, leaving me on the edge of my seat, wanting to hold on to him and never let him go.

“Angel.” His voice is raspy. I can hear the need in it. It’s much like what I’m feeling.

“Yes?” He holds his hand out, and I make sure not to give him all of my weight as he helps me out of my car.

“Needed those lips on mine like I needed my eyes on you.” This man, he’s seriously trying to make me faint.

“Well, maybe we can work something out,” I reply saucily. His left arm hooks around my neck, and we walk into his house together, never leaving an inch of space between us.

“I’d like that.” He kisses the side of my head. Yep, this man is making me feel so much more than I ever thought was possible.

The garage door is open, showing the two vehicles he keeps in there—some kind of SUV and another sport-like vehicle. My father tried to instill in me what kind of car was this or that. It never worked though. I know the basics of what I need to, and that’s about it. Brand names, car names, it’s not something I care about. I’m more after what the best deal or steal is. My mom and I used to always check out the thrift stores in other towns. We upcycled what we could. Not only that, some of the things we found had price tags still on the clothes.

“I have lunch ready for us,” Drake tells me as he opens the door for me to enter the kitchen.

“What the…? I thought we were making everything together. I could have picked this up on my way. Please tell me you didn’t drive, pick this up, and then carry it in by yourself.” I practically beg.

“No, though I hate and love that you worry about me. I will say as soon as this shoulder is healed, we’ll do this the right way. I had it ordered and Travis brought it over with Raelynn. They even brought in the food and set it up.” I’m looking at the smorgasbord of food on the kitchen island.

“That we can do.” I look at the food. There are quesadillas, fajitas, chips, salsa, guacamole, and a pitcher of margaritas. There’s so much food. “Are you planning on anyone else coming over today?” I ask.

“Nope, but I figure we can eat off of it all day and whatever is left, I’ll eat or freeze for another time.”

“Alright. I’m going to go change. We can make plates and eat outside? I’m kind of dying to see your pool.” I give him a wink.

“That’s fine. I’ll be here waiting for you.” His voice is gruff. Not for the first time I’ve noticed this man doesn’t wear a shirt at all when I’m around, and I’m liking the view.

DRAKE

Not for the first time am I cussing this stupid sling I’m stuck in. Giana thought this was a lot. Little does she know I plan on spoiling the shit out of her. I already made a phone call to the college she was at and paid off her tuition. I’m sure she’ll be spitting mad when she finds out. I have my ways on handling that though, especially when my lips are on hers.
