“What?”

“Does it surprise you, darling, to know that all along I intended to take her daughter? You see, Annalise, you were a beautiful young girl, but that isn’t the way I swing.” He shuddered. “I knew if I waited for you, you were going to be a beautifully delicious woman.” His gaze traveled down her body. “And believe me when I say this, I was right.” His hands ran down his chest all the way to his cock, and she watched as he squeezed himself.

She was so close to throwing up.

“Do you have any idea how often I’ve imagined fucking you?” he asked. “Thinking of you riding my cock, taking it deep into your mouth. Turn around.”

“What?”

“You heard me. Turn around.”

Annalise felt tears fill her eyes, but she turned, presenting him with her back.

“And I’m going to fuck that ass as well. I imagine those cowboys have done a good job of breaking you in. At first, I was so pissed off. That cherry was supposed to be mine to pop, but now, I don’t have to worry about damaging you. You’ll be ready to be fucked hard.”

Each word out of his mouth made her anxiety rise. “You’re a monster.”

“Am I though, really?”

“You’ve manipulated my life. You’ve forced me out of work. You have taken everything from me, to what? Own me?” She shook her head. “You’re not fair.”

“Newsflash, darling. Life isn’t fair. In this world, you have to play dirty to get what you want, and guess what, I am going to get you.” He reached into his drawer. “You think I wouldn’t challenge those assholes if I didn’t know every single little detail about them?” He pulled out a manila file folder.

He slapped it on his desk, opened it up, and flicked through the pages. Annalise had no choice but to step a little closer, and then she saw what it was. A file on her men. Gabe. Archie. Vinny.

“Do you have any idea how hard those men have worked? How close they’ve come to losing everything?” He tutted as he flicked through page after page of details. “The loans they borrowed. The amount they had to pay back. All the years of hard work, and it could go in an instant. They really beat the odds, you know. It’s almost admirable.”

“Don’t,” she said.

“Don’t what?”

“Don’t hurt them.” She couldn’t bear the thought of her men suffering because of her.

“We’ll see if they allow me to leave them alone,” Raymond said.

“What do you mean?”

“You think I don’t know that you contacted them? I had eyes on them. They’re heading right this way.” He leaned back in his chair, putting his hands behind his head. Raymond smiled that evil grin. “What’s the matter, Annalise? Are you going to admit defeat?”

“Never,” she said. “Do you really think you’re going to enjoy forcing me?”

“But that is the beauty of all of this, Annalise. It’s not going to be force, and you want to know why? You’re going to come to my bed, willing and begging me to take you, because if you don’t, I’ll make sure your men pay.”

His torture wouldn’t end.

Annalise wanted to yell at him, but instead, she held her tongue as his office door was banged open.

She glanced behind her, seeing Gabe, Vinny, and Archie stepping into her stepfather’s office.

There was no way she could risk them losing anything. Her cell phone was still turned on. Now it was her time to play dirty and to finally get rid of her stepfather once and for all.

Vinny was being a good boy.

Staring across the room at Raymond Davenport, all he wanted to do was charge at him, to unleash his fists. Instead, he held himself firm.

Losing his shit right now wouldn’t be in any of their best interests, even though he couldn’t deny it would give him immeasurably pleasure to wipe that smug smile off the bastard’s face.

One look at Annalise, and he knew they were making the right decision. She didn’t want to belong to her stepfather. This life in the city didn’t suit her. They weren’t making a big mistake.

“Well, well, well, if it’s not her loyal protectors. I thought you boys would be getting your ranch up to standard. Never had an inspector see such sloppy work.”

“Cut the crap,” Gabe said. “You know why we’re here.”

“Oh, believe me, I don’t. Annalise lied to you. She didn’t arrange for a meeting. She tried to get you here to surprise me, and I guess it worked, I’m surprised. Anyone who has tried to help Annalise in the past has always been easily bought off, but you boys, you’re proving to be a real pain in my ass.” He held up a file. “You see this? This is every single detail of your life. You boys have worked hard for everything you got, so why don’t we settle this like men. I can make all your troubles go away. All you’ve got to do is leave Annalise to me.” Raymond looked at each of them in turn and chuckled. “I mean, it’s not like you boys can offer her a better life. Look at you. I’m surprised you kept that shit hole open for as long as you have.” He flicked open the file. “And you’re all turning a profit now. But you’re no match for me.”
