“Whoa, girl, I need a minute,” he says with a laugh and rubs her side. “One minute, okay? I have an important question for your mom.”

He reaches into his pants pocket and pulls out a shiny diamond ring.

“Summer, will you do me the honor of being my wife? Will you live with me here, make a home and a family with me? I promise, I’ll live the rest of my life making sure you’re happy and taken care of. You won’t ever question how much I love you.”

I have to swallow over the lump in my throat. “Of course, I’ll marry you and have babies and make a life with you, Chase Wild. I love you, too.”

He slides the ring onto my finger, and then he catches me up in a kiss so full of passion and heat, it takes my breath away.

He always takes my breath away.

I can hear Lily’s nails clickity clacking on the dock with excitement, and Chase picks her up so she can get in on the happy snuggles.

“We’d better head over to Remington’s and tell our family,” Chase says with a happy smile as he leads me off of the dock, but I stop for a moment, looking out over the lake, and back to where the house will be. To where the eagle is still perched on the tree, and I take a deep breath as a chilly breeze blows over my face and through my hair.

Yes, I can picture it all. The gardens, the flowers, the view every night from our bedroom as the sun sets behind those snow-capped mountains.

I’m going to sit on that porch, rocking my babies to sleep as I watch our other children play in the water or fish off the dock or run in the yard. We’re going to invite our friends here, for food and laughter.

We’re going to make a beautiful life here, in this gorgeous place on Wild River Ranch.

“You okay?” Chase asks and reaches for my hand.

“I’ve never been better,” I assure him. “I was just picturing it, that’s all.”

He raises an eyebrow, those hazel eyes full of love.

“And?”

“And I can’t wait to get started.”

EPILOGUE

RYAN WILD

“Congratulations, Mr. Wild.” My attorney, Dan Meeks, grins and shakes my hand. “You have a court date for next month, and then the judge will officially sign off on it, and you’ll have yourself a son.”

A son.

I don’t think I’ve truly wrapped my brain around that yet.

Tomorrow is Christmas, and I plan to tell Jake in the morning when it’s just the two of us and I give him his present. A horse and a truck.

Because he has to have transportation to and from the ranch, and he just passed his driving test.

I’m damn proud of him.

With a nod, I step out of the attorney’s office and into a freaking blizzard.

“Holy shit,” I mutter, pulling the collar of my jacket up around my neck, just as I walk right into a woman who’s hurrying through the snow and wind.

“I’m sorry,” she says, and then her green eyes widen when she sees it’s me. “Ryan.”

“Hi, Polly.” Wanting to chat with her, I glance around, take her hand, and pull her into the doorway of a business so we’re out of the worst of the weather. “How are you?”

“Busy,” she says with a happy little laugh that makes my dick sit up and take notice. “And I hate that answer, but tomorrow’s Christmas, so the shop is bustling and full of gift-buying people, and that makes me happy. How are you?”

I love her smile. That whole night with her, she grinned at me. When I was inside of her, when I was touching her, telling her exactly what I wanted to do to her.

“Ryan?”

“I’m good.” I swallow hard and nod. “Yeah, I’m really good, thanks. You look fantastic. Why don’t you have any gloves?”

She frowns down at her bare hands.

“Oh, I must have left them somewhere. I’m always doing that.” She pushes her hand through her snow-covered hair self-consciously. “I’m a little frazzled today.”

“No, you look beautiful.”

I stand at least a foot taller than her, and everything in me wants to kiss her, but I don’t. I pull my own gloves off and pass them to her. “Put these on. It’s too cold to be without them.”

“But what about you?”

“I’ll be fine,” I insist and smile with satisfaction when she tugs the gloves on. They’re way too big for her, but she’ll be warm.

“I’ll get them back to you.”

I laugh and shake my head. “Don’t worry about it. Really. I won’t keep you out in this cold.”

She looks like she wants to say something, but then she shakes her head and offers me another big smile. “I hope you have an excellent Christmas, Ryan.”

“You, too, Polly.”

She hurries off, and I watch her go, hunched against the wind of the storm, and feel my gut clench.
