I pushed my fingers into her hair and tilted her head with my thumb against her jawline.

I stopped when my lips were against hers. Hers parted.

‘I will gladly kiss you every day; that’s not something you ever have to worry about again.’

She started laughing, and that’s when I kissed her – pushing my tongue into her mouth and revelling in her gasp and then soft moan.

When we stopped, we were both out of breath, and our bodies were flush against each other.

‘If we don’t leave now, this is gonna be a problem,’ I whispered.

‘I don’t see the problem,’ she whispered back, softly. ‘And what if I started to enjoy going out on blind dates?’

I sighed. ‘I’ll take you out and we’ll pretend we just met.’ I turned her and headed towards the door. ‘Knowing you, you’ll probably like that more than the real thing.’

‘Oh, do I get to be whoever I want to be?’ She asked over her shoulder, her eyes sparkling with mischief.

‘We’ll see. I want to take you out now. Can I do that?’

She smiled her gorgeous smile. ‘I’d like that.’

I grabbed her hand and stepped out. ‘I’ve got a surprise for you.’

Rushing her out the door wasn’t one of my greatest ideas, but it was necessary if I didn’t want to lose the battle against myself. The weather was starting to turn properly into spring and it wasn’t as cold as it had been just days ago, so it was the perfect timing for the motorcycle ride I’d promised her.

‘You’re lying,’ she exclaimed as I stood in front of the motorcycle and she did a slow walk around it. ‘This isn’t yours.’

‘Why would I lie?’

‘You bought it for me?’

‘No,’ I repeated, ‘I didn’t buy it for you. I rented it.’

‘It’s the same thing.’

‘No, I’ve rented it for twenty-four hours. There is a huge distinction.’

‘It’s the same thing,’ she repeated, eyes still on the bike. ‘You like me so much that you bought a motorcycle. So you have a licence to use it. I’m actually going to drive a motorcycle.’

I laughed quietly, shaking my head. ‘No, you’re not gonna be driving anything. I’m the one who has a licence so I’ll be doing the driving.’

She waved her hand my way. ‘We’ll see.’

‘No. We won’t see, I need you to stay in one piece. Do you want to go to dinner or do we have to stand around and just stare at it for another ten minutes?’

Finally she looked up at me with a huge smile. ‘We can go. Definitely. Dibs on the black helmet.’

‘I’m not wearing the pink one, Charlie.’ I moved forward to get the black one from her hands.

‘Then let me drive. I’m not saying I want to drive in traffic, I don’t want to die just yet. But down the street? I can totally do that. Please?’

‘I don’t think so. I’m starving, let’s go.’

‘Do you get grumpy when you don’t eat?’

‘I never get grumpy.’

‘Okay, whatever you say. So… it’s a no on the driving? Still?’

I shook my head and got on the motorcycle before she could jump on and try something. I patted the seat behind me. ‘Come on. I made reservations.’

Smiling, she took a step towards me and all I wanted was to wrap my arms around her waist and pull her in.

‘Just one more thing,’ she whispered, her body now brushing against my thigh. ‘Are you telling me you really rented a bike for me because I told some guy I’ve always wanted to go on one?’

I decided to let go of the hold I had on my instincts and wrapped my arm around her waist and pulled her in until I was very close to her face. I had to close my eyes to stop myself from going for her lips.

‘All I want to do when you look at me with those eyes is kiss your beautiful lips, Charlie.’ I took a deep breath and opened my eyes to stare into hers. ‘Yes, I got it for you. But this isn’t anything big. You shouldn’t be impressed. You deserve so much more. But I do want you to know that I listen to you, and I hear everything you tell me. I told you I’d get you on a bike. Get used to having someone in your life who keeps his promises.’

She nodded, her eyes half-closed already.

‘If I kiss you, we might still end up going back inside, so let me take you out to dinner, okay?’

I got another nod. Then she got up on the seat behind me, put on her helmet and wrapped her arms around my waist.

I sat up straighter and my dick hardened in my pants. It was going to be a long, long dinner.

Three hours later we were back on our street. Charlie got off the bike and I followed her.
