“Look at you followin’ directions. I wasn’t sure you had it in you.” Dev chuckled and whipped the blanket out in one sure move, letting it land across the mattress and much of Cash’s legs. Dev turned off the overhead light, and followed him down, crawling across the bed, maneuvering until he was lying beside Cash, drawing the blanket up.

Dev lived with no pretense. He angled his body, nudging his knee between Cash’s thighs, raising enough to position his cock comfortably. He drew the edge of a second pillow over with him. Another first in a string of firsts for Cash. He’d never slept with someone on top of him before. Even more weird, the position was perfect for him too.

“I won’t always make you cuddle me,” Dev said, moving his head and the edge of the pillow to the crook of Cash’s neck. He yawned a deep yawn. “You could put your arms around me. Act like you’re happy to be here with me.”

Cash chuckled and lifted an arm.

“I’m not needy, but you could move your hand over me.”

“I’m sure you’re the exact definition of needy,” Cash replied, bringing his palm up. He gently grazed his fingertips up and down Dev’s back. “The choking thing was new to me.”

He had no idea why he chose those words instead of taking the opportunity to get back to business and feel the guy out. Tired people always had loose lips.

“I know. You kept tightenin’ your fingers then easin’ off. It was sweet, but you’re supposed to cut off air. It makes the whole thing better,” Dev said, lifting his head to look at Cash.

“I don’t know that I can do that,” Cash said honestly, his fingers rose over Dev’s shoulder until they touched his cheek. “You’re too special to risk yourself like you do. Do you want to choke yourself during sex all the time?”

“No. Never before but I heard it’s good. Some of the people I’ve fucked like it. I think it’s risky too. I guess I trusted you. But I’ve learned CPR on the off chance. Though that wouldn’t have helped me earlier.” Dev gave a puff of a chuckle and lifted his head again. The angle wasn’t right for Cash to look at him, so he didn’t try. “I get in the moment. They want to be strangled. I’m not really there for them. I have no idea how much time passes until I let go and their limp body falls to the floor.”

Hmm.

Maybe that was added for shock value… Dev did that.

Silence blanketed them.

Why did he want to know if Dev was messing with him?

Please don’t let him be confessing a murder…

“I’m fuckin’ with you. She fell to the floor gaspin’ for breath. She’s good.”

“Ha. Ha,” Cash said, instantly relieved.

“What about fistin’?” Dev said, yawning again. His hard body relaxed against Cash. “I think I’d like your fist in my ass. It’s supposed to help with the head issues. Am I sayin’ too much? I’m freakin’ you out, aren’t I?”

“You know what else is good for your head? Going to a mental health care counselor,” Cash suggested.

“You go to a mental health care physician,” Dev shot back defensively. Cash chuckled, his chest rumbling underneath Dev’s body. He tightened his arms around this crazy man.

“I have. Many times in my life,” Cash answered honestly. “Still do when I need it.” Any emotional distance Cash may have tried to place between them vanished.

He held Dev with a protective vise-like hold, drawing him closer. The reality of the limited number of times they would ever have this innocent, quiet time together, holding one another, began to tick away.

“Maybe I should make an appointment for myself tomorrow since I’m lying here with a man who wants me to choke him, while fucking him without any protection. Even going so far as to consider any future condom wearing.”

“Sounds like a Tuesday night in my life.” Dev lifted his head to defend himself. “I don’t want you to choke me all the time. Just tonight. But doin’ what you did in the shower. Takin’ me off my feet. That shit turned me on. I’ve never had anyone do that to me.”

An uncharacteristic move for Cash too, but he agreed, it felt good.

“Sleep for about an hour. Wake me up. Good?” Dev asked.

Cash nodded, his fingers mapping the hard planes and well-defined muscles of Dev’s back for something to remember later.

“My buddy thinks I need a head doctor too,” Dev murmured, his voice dragging. “No condom…”

Dev fell asleep as Cash stared at the ceiling. The close camaraderie they shared spoke of weeks and weeks, if not months and years, of closeness. Not the three or four days since they’d officially met.

Why had he ever followed Dev’s directives and choked him? That kind of thing was so outside Cash’s wheelhouse he couldn’t even find a possibility of an answer. He liked making Dev happy though.
