Cash nodded. He’d been sent in blind, knowing very little of the magnitude of what was going on. Perhaps the AG was saying more than he wanted, but Cash needed to know what he was up against.

“Too many hands are pilfering through the profits. It’s utter chaos. We have no leads outside of this club and very few leads inside. All our leads have come from you. Where’s the money going? Do we know the full scope of the illegal activity they’re pushing? Where’s it coming from?”

The AG gave a rare moment of emotion, frustratingly throwing his hands in the air. Cash nodded, feeling reasonably sure he’d sold his most current tactical advancement strategy.

“I’ve never seen anything like this before. How did we lose such control?”

“I understand, but nothing changes for me,” Cash said. “My goal’s to provide you with the intelligence you need, which I believe I can do if we get Devin on our side. Otherwise, there’s no reason for you to keep me here. I would suggest an operative assigned internally at the Dallas DEA’s office. Outside of the club members I’ve stated, these bikers don’t have the…wherewithal to steal on such a large level.”

“He has a point,” Collins said.

The AG nodded. “Do what you need to with Devin Fox. Be mindful. He doesn’t strike me as someone who will easily become compliant.”

Cash nodded and agreed. The pit in his stomach eased.

“Off the record, if anything you find points to Speaker Pierce or his son, I want to know before anything’s done. Day or night. Got it?” the AG said.

Both he and Collins nodded their understanding.

Headlights dashed across Cash’s dark windshield. Dev was home.

“I’ll touch base when I know more.”

Cash ended the call as Dev’s vintage ride came to the gate. He swore he heard a string of foul language before Dev exited the car to unlock the padlock keeping it closed.

Of course he left the gate open as he parked in his normal space. Dev looked over at him through the side window. Dev cut the engine, the rumble so loud, the silence took a second to absorb the fading noise. The driver’s side door opened, Dev’s head popped over the top of the car, waiting for Cash to open his door and get out of his vehicle.

A lie formed inside his head before his hand reached the handle.

“There a problem?” Dev asked.

“Not really. I need to switch my cell service. I have bad reception in my place.”

Both of Dev’s brows lowered. “Is that in any way my fault?”

Cash stood to his full height and grinned, shaking his head. “Not unless you want to pay for a new cell phone service. I’ll happily send you that bill.”

Dev rolled his eyes and dropped back down into the car, removing the key from the ignition. His hand hit the lock on the inside door, pushing it down before the door slammed shut. “You got any grub upstairs. I’m just realizin’ I didn’t eat today.”

“You’re only realizing that right now?” Cash met him at the front of both their vehicles. Together, they walked the length of the patio toward the back door.

“Not as astonishin’ as you just made it sound. I’m not a big eater. Usually grab a burger or two on the way home,” Dev explained and reached for the back door of the building, ushering Cash through first.

The words stopped Cash in the middle of the doorframe, his hand going to his heart. “I love food. I love to plan my food, watch videos on how to cook food properly then try to make those recipes myself. It physically hurts me that you don’t think about food.”

Dev’s stance relaxed. He had that undeniably sexy swagger as he watched him closely. Dev grinned happily. The strain he wore on his face evaporated, leaving behind a youthful, handsome, playful man in its place.

A full toothy grin was Cash’s reward. Dev reached for Cash’s arm, gripping him in such a way that he remained in place as Dev took a step into him. “You know what I thought about all day?”

“Well, clearly not food.”

Dev’s eyes lowered to Cash’s lips. “That quick peck I gave you when you left my place.”

He had expected something vulgar about their time together last night, not a reminder of that sweet, unexpected gesture. Cash’s cock loved the tenderness of the words. His ass clenched with anticipated pleasure. Dev’s eyes glazed over as he stared at Cash’s mouth. “You got great lips.”

Cash lowered his voice to a whisper and leaned into Dev so not to be heard by all the surveillance equipment around them. “I was thinking more about the moment I rimmed you. You seemed really into it; I definitely was into it.”

Cash finished the sentence by flicking his tongue around the shell of Dev’s ear.
