Can I really have all the bad luck? Even if I do come out the other side with Maddox, how long will he want to stay? I shove a piece of steak in my mouth. It melts like always. I won’t think about my birth mother right now. She won’t ruin this for me. MJ loves me. Is it so hard to believe that maybe Maddox could find my faults endearing too—or maybe I am reaching. At this point I’ll grab for anything as long as I can hold on to him a little bit longer.

Maddox

Luna arrives early sans the giant Styrofoam cup but wearing the same ugly skirt with a different button-down blouse. Her feet are stuffed into a pair of worn shoes. She’s smiling, but her eyes look tired.

I take her giant purse-slash-backpack and hand her a cup of coffee and the bagel. “There’s cream cheese in my office.”

“You’re an angel,” she moans after swallowing a healthy gulp of the coffee.

My dick stands up at the throaty sound. “And you will be getting new coffee every hour.”

Every minute, if she continues to make those noises. If this is how she responds to a good cup of morning java, what would she do if she were to wake up with my face between her legs, sucking on her pert clit and tonguing her juicy cunt?

“Mr. Castile, you have a call on line one.” Grant’s voice breaks through my sexual fugue.

I’ve forgotten my assistant is sitting at his desk, not that it would’ve changed anything. Being near Luna renders my self-control obsolete. When I see her, my overriding thought is how I want to take her to the floor, rip her clothes off, and make love to her until she’s come too many times to do anything but curl into my arms and sleep.

“Mr. Castile, your phone call?” Grant clears his throat and looks meaningfully at the phone.

“Right. I’ll take it in my office. Your desk has arrived, Luna. Why don’t you come in and take a look?”

“My new desk?” Her eyes brighten.

Grant nearly vaults over his desk in his rush to get to my side. “The call is with Leo Davids regarding the London deal.”

The London deal is a two billion dollar investment deal renovating a block of old buildings in Picadilly Circus in London. I’ve been working on it with Davids for nearly a year now. We have one unit left to buy and they’ve been holding out for an obscene amount of money. Davids has been working on the last seller and the phone call is likely whether he succeeded or failed. Grant doesn’t want Luna to know about the details but she’s going to be my wife, which means she’ll know everything about me down to my last bank account number.

“It’s fine, Grant. Luna understands that this is all confidential.”

My darling girl nearly chokes on her bagel. Poor child, the guilt is eating her up. Hopefully, she’ll come clean one of these days or Grant will figure out who hired her and we can attack the situation from that angle.

“Go on into the office, Luna.” I nudge her gently toward the door. Grant slides out of the way, but not without sending me a frown.

“Have you made any progress on the Moon project?” I direct over my shoulder as I follow Luna into the office.

“Not yet.” He huffs out a sigh. “I guess I’ll move that up on my priority list since it could impact all the rest of our business.”

“Please do.” I shut the door behind me. Luna looks a little lost.

“Wasn’t there a bookcase here?” She points to the back wall that now holds a white credenza and a Monet that I bought a couple of years ago and had in my penthouse until last night. In front of the art work and credenza is a matching white and gold gilt desk and a white office chair with a fur throw so her fine ass doesn’t get sore.

“There was.”

“And there were chairs here.” She points to the space that is currently occupied by her new desk.

“Yes.” I pick up my phone. “Feel free to explore and change things around if you don’t like them. Hello, Leo, I’m sorry to keep you waiting. My office is undergoing some changes.”

As Leo Davids brings me up to date, I eye one of the best changes right now as she walks around, exploring all the new furniture and art work.

“The bank won’t sell, but the family wants to. They’re in desperate need of cash to prop up this old, moldy country house,” Leo barks into my ear.

Luna takes a seat on the chair. Her eyes widen as she rubs her hand over the soft fur. My girl loves soft and silky textures. I can’t wait to replace all of her things with luxury goods. If there’s anyone in this world that deserves to be showered in silk and fur, it’s her.
