When her breath catches, my mouth crashes onto hers. One sweep of my tongue against the seam of her lips is all it takes for her to open and then I’m plunging inside, licking and sucking at her sweetness. There’s something so right about the feel of her in my arms. It’s as if she was always meant to be there. I tried for so long to put her out of both my head and heart, and I couldn’t do it.

I refuse to try any longer.

When I finally break away, we’re both breathing hard. Her heavy-lidded gaze is filled with arousal. Have I ever seen anything as sexy in my life?

This girl, she’s the one for me.

And I’m the one for her.

The only one she’ll ever need.

Two years later...

With the strap of my carry-on bag resting against my shoulder, I navigate the thick crowd at the airport before heading outside to grab a cab. Pushing through the heavy glass doors into the cool air, I’m inundated with the scent of exhaust fumes. I pause at the curb and search the surrounding area before lifting my hand and hastening my pace toward an empty yellow taxi. A few moments later, I slide into the backseat before rattling off the address. A breath of relief escapes from me as the cab takes off, merging into traffic. Only now does my head fall back onto the cushion and my eyelids flutter shut.

It’s been four weeks since Carson and I have been in the same city, and I can’t believe how much I’ve missed him. FaceTime, calls, and texting is in no way the same as being in the same room together. Or being able to reach out and touch each other. And late-night calls with lots of sexy talk and self-love sessions are in no way the same as having the person you love stroke their hands or lips over you.

Even the thought is enough to have me clenching my thighs together in anticipation.

We’ve been living in separate cities since Carson graduated and moved to New York where he was drafted. He’s renting an amazing apartment in the heart of the city. I love spending my breaks with him. Hand in hand, we walk around the crowded streets and take in Broadway shows, eat at amazing restaurants, and attend concerts.

I’ll admit that it was tempting to transfer colleges after he moved. For me, New York has always been the end goal. I want to act on Broadway, and there’s no better place to be than here. Even though I’m sure about us and the direction we’re headed in, I didn’t want to rush our relationship. I wanted to give us time to grow as a couple. Plus, I love my professors and roommates. So, I’m enjoying my last year at Western before graduating in the spring and moving in with him.

With traffic, it takes about an hour to reach his high-rise. As we pull to the curb, I pay the driver and grab my bag from the seat beside me before exiting the vehicle. As soon as I get out of the taxi, a couple outfitted in a gorgeous dress and tuxedo emerges from the building and climbs into the yellow vehicle. For just a second, I stand on the sidewalk before inhaling a big breath of air. I love everything about this city. The energy is like nothing else I’ve ever experienced. It’s infectious.

The doorman tips his hat before opening the door with a flourish. “Nice to see you again, Ms. Kendricks.”

“Thanks, Frank. It’s good to be back,” I say with a smile.

“Pretty soon it’ll be permanent.”

“Yup, can’t wait!”

With a wave, I step inside the elaborate lobby with its high vaulted ceiling, crown molding, and crystal chandelier. My shoes click against the ocean of white marble as I move through the space. I greet the manager loitering behind the wide expanse of counter before heading to the bank of elevators. The place is over-the-top swanky and comes with every conceivable bell and whistle. Underground parking, a private gym, a rooftop pool, dry cleaning, and concierge service, just to name a few.

Once inside the mirrored car, I hit the button for the twentieth floor. Most of the walls in his apartment are floor-to-ceiling windows with breathtaking views of the city. Especially at night, when all of the lights are illuminated and stretch as far as the eye can see in every direction.

Has he pressed me against them a time or two and fucked me so hard that I’ve screamed my head off before nearly slumping to the floor?

I’m going to plead the fifth on that one. I’m not really a girl who likes to kiss and tell.

When the doors slide open, I step into the carpeted hallway and walk down the long stretch. Beautiful artwork hangs on the walls along with well-lit sconces that are strategically placed at set intervals. There are always vasefuls of fresh flowers set on narrow antique tables. I have no idea how much Carson pays each month for the place. When I asked, he refused to tell me, but it must be a pretty penny. I know he wanted to make sure that we were in a central location near all of the amenities. And that includes Broadway.
