“Fuck, Rayne, I missed this.” He cupped my breast and pressed his face into my neck.

“Oh, you have no idea. This distance crap is for the birds. Let’s never separate again.”

“Deal. I’ll sell my houses and we can by a yacht. I’ll quit my job and we can spend years sailing from island to island and living off the sea and land.”

“Perfect.”

When he kissed me again, I tasted his longing and reveled in the idea that anyone could desire me with so much intensity. His obsession was my drug of choice. I got high off his need to have me and I loved feeling so deeply wanted. His addiction had become my own. Hale bottled up his feelings, but there was no holding back his emotions when we came together like this.

Once I managed to strip him of his clothes, we rolled across the bed and he seated me on top of him.

“Take this off.” He tugged at the oversized sweatshirt I’d smuggled from his hamper. I stripped it away and threw it onto the floor. He ran his finger under the hem of my I heart N.Y. tank top. “This is cute.”

“Thanks. I got it from a guy selling hotdogs on the street. But it’s not very authentic. It was made in Indonesia.”

“Figures.” He chuckled.

Strong hands held my hips as he guided me over him. I loved riding him this way because of the added sense of connection that came when he looked into my eyes. “I missed you, Hale.”

“You have no idea, baby. The last few days apart were torture.”

My face pressed into his touch as his fingers ran through my hair. Every caress eased away the homesickness that had haunted me over the last week.

We took things slow for a while, simply enjoying the leisurely way our bodies fit together so perfectly, but then passion got the better of us as it always did. As he pumped into me with hard, demanding strokes and told me in the filthiest terms just how much he missed me, I grew ever grateful that the butler was sent home.

My moans echoed against every gold fixture and shook the chandeliers as I cried out in impassioned pleasure, coming hard. But Hale was far from finished.

“Another. Show me how much you missed this. I’m not letting you go until we’re both soaked.”

He thrust faster, holding my body open as he touched every sensitive secret place and I was screaming through another release. His finish came in a fury of hard need and dark satisfaction. In short, he once again ruined me for all other men.

As I lay sprawled out beside him, panting like a dog in heat and wishing I had something to drink, he watched me the way an art connoisseur might admire a masterpiece.

By no definition of beauty could I have looked remotely hot in that moment. I was sweating like a pig, wheezing like an asthmatic, and too tired to aesthetically pose myself in a manner that hid my rolls and folds. Yet, still, he stared.

“You’re staring.” I blew out a long breath and pulled the sheet closer to cover my stomach.

“I can’t help it. You’re gorgeous.”

I grinned. Hale’s opinion of my beauty would always make me laugh. The guy was an Adonis who literally dated runway models and heiresses before me.

“Stop.”

“Stop what?”

“Rayne.” He rolled to his back. “I can always tell when your brain’s going into a spiral of self-doubt.”

Ah, I loved our post-coital discussions. Was I really that transparent?

Time to think about something else. Sex awakened the philosopher in me, so I delved into one of life’s greatest mysteries. “Do you think Batman secretly loved Robin?”

“Are you asking if I think Robin got into the Batcave?”

I chuckled. “No way was Batman a bottom. More like a bat getting in the robin’s nest.”

A low laugh rumbled from his chest. “I love where your mind goes after sex.”

“Well, think of how tempting it must have been, fighting all those villains while Robin pranced around in that green speedo and those pixie boots.” I draped my body over his chest and grinned. “I’m so glad you’re here.”

“Me too.” He glanced at his watch. “What do you say we get dressed and go find something to eat. I’m so jetlagged I’m wired, but eventually I’m going to crash, so we need to get moving before I fall asleep.”

That was Hale, always so regimented and intentional. “We can order room service.”

“I was thinking something nicer.”

“Oh. I didn’t really pack fancy clothes for this trip.”

“I saw a box with your name on it in the sitting room. Maybe you should check it out.”

I perked up. “Prizes?”

When he smirked, I knew he’d brought me a gift. “Better go see what it is.”

Give My Regards to Broadway

I rushed out of bed and raced through the penthouse. “Manhattan just got a glimpse of my bare ass!”
