“No, it really didn’t,” I laugh.

Gosh, I don’t know where my life would be without these girls.

They’re what keep me together.

Cade

“I want to find him.”

Jackson stares at me, his face hard but curious. “You think that’s a good idea?”

“Addison is right, I can’t fuckin’ let this go, Jacks. I need to know what happened to her. I let her get tangled up in this mess because I was young, stupid and sick of tryin’ to fix everyone’s lives. If he knows where she is, I need to know, too.”

“You sure you’re ready for that answer?” Muff asks, taking a sip of beer while bouncing Max on his lap.

“Not sure I’ll ever be fuckin’ ready,” I mutter. “But I’m goin’ to find him.”

“You think he’s still in the area?” Spike asks, lighting a cigarette and putting his boot up on the table. “He could be fuckin’ anywhere by now.”

“He was runnin’ a good business in these parts, but he might have moved on. Figure we would have heard his name again if he was still around here. All the movin’ of product we’ve done, his name hasn’t come up. Might be a new man in charge.”

“Could be, or maybe we’re just not dealin’ with them. Not like there are a short supply of fuckers doin’ illegal shit,” Jackson mutters. “If he’s around still, we’ll find him.”

I nod. “Appreciate it.”

“You know Addi isn’t going to just sit back and do nothin’,” Spike points out. “That woman is like a dog with a bone.”

“I’ll keep her in the loop, but there is no fuckin’ way she’s going it alone. I know her, she’ll get herself killed.”

Jackson’s eyes flash. “Prefer she don’t go anywhere near it.”

“You and I both know she’ll do what she wants.”

Spike chuckles.

Muff grins.

“Any news on Adder?”

A swift change of the subject. I’m done talking about this shit. I’ve gotten myself in enough trouble today.

“He’s stable, goin’ to be okay,” Jackson answers.

“Think he’s worthy of bein’ patched in,” Spike murmurs. “Kid got some balls.”

“Yeah, I agree,” Muff throws in. “He fuckin’ had our backs in that bar.”

“He’ll get a patch,” Jackson agrees.

He’s going to make a hell of a biker, that kid.

He’s got a dark spirit, and a fire inside him that is rare to find. He’ll go a long way and he’ll be as loyal as they come.

We need more of that.

“I’ll make some calls,” Jackson stands, pushing away from the table. “See what I can find out about this fucker who last saw your sister. Spike and Muff will see what else they can dig up. You’re goin’ to go home and make it up to my daughter, because, Cade, if you ever fuckin’ bring her past into it again, we’ll have problems.”

Holding his eyes, I nod.

He nods back.

Respect.

“I’m goin’ to see if my woman will talk to me,” I murmur.

“Girls’ night, brother. You’d be mad to interrupt,” Spike flashes me a daring look.

Shit stirring bastard.

“That’s exactly why I’m doin’ it.”

Turning, I leave the club. Yeah, I’m going to make this up to my woman in more ways than one.

Arriving at the house, I can hear the music and laughter coming from inside. Pushing the door open, I step into a fucking dance party. They’re all waving their arms around as they dance around the living room. I can’t help the grin that spreads across my face. Well fuck me. Can’t not love everything about these women.

“No boys allowed!” Ciara cries, her mouth dropping open as she spots me at the door. “Cade. I will come over there and kick your sorry ass. Don’t try me. I’m a new mother.”

“Calm down, Tom cat,” I chuckle. “Not here to fight you.”

She puts her fists up. “Are you sure, because I’ve got a lot of pent-up energy.”

“Spike’s at the club. I’m sure he’d appreciate some of that energy.”

She laughs, but then narrows her eyes again, forgetting she’s supposed to me mad at me. “If you’re here to ask for Addi’s forgiveness, the answer is no. She doesn’t want to forgive you.”

My eyes swing to Addison, who is drunk, oh, she’s fucking drunk. Janine is nowhere to be seen, which means she’s on babysitting duty as these ferals enjoy their one night of freedom. If that’s the case, I’m going to take it, too. Green eyes flashing, Addison shoots me a grin that tells me she’s feeling the exact same way.

She’s forgiven me alright, and even if she hasn’t, angry sex is the best fucking way to do it.

“Think she might feel differently,” I murmur, my eyes still on my woman.

“Addison,” Ciara cries, clapping her hands to snap Addison out of her trance. “Stop staring at him like you want to go over there and jump his bones. We’re mad, remember, really mad.”

Serenity giggles. “I think it’s too late, she’s lost.”

Janine walks down the stairs, her eyes moving to me and her smile appearing. “Oh, I see you’ve come to ask for forgiveness.”
