“The more you talk, the harder you die,” I said.

He shrugged. “How much?”

“Excuse me?”

“How much do you need to compensate you for the whore?”

“I’m sorry, did you think you could buy your way out of this?” I grinned as I took a step closer. “The only reason you’re not already dead is because I wanted you to know why you were about to die. Trust me. This is happening.”

I moved around behind DeLuca while he sputtered. “You’re a fuckin’ dead man, motherfucker. A fuckin’ dead man!”

“Not as dead as you.” With deliberate slowness, I positioned my hands. One on top of his head, slightly above his left ear, the other on his chin. I held the position for several seconds before jerking his chin up and to the left and shoving his head to the right, effectively snapping his neck.

I moved back around in front of him. DeLuca’s eyes were wide. He looked from side to side but was unable to breathe or move.

“Ah, look at that.” I said conversationally to Alfonso who’d started swearing the second he heard his partner’s neck break. “He’s still conscious. Could be a couple minutes before he dies.” I grinned. “Perfect.”

“You fuckin’ cocksucker! Motherfucker!”

“I believe it was you who insisted this floor be closed off tonight.” I was enjoying this way too much. “With all the noise downstairs -- and the fact this is a BDSM club -- scream all you want. Anyone who hears you will assume you’re playing. But it’s doubtful anyone will hear.”

“You can’t do this! My men will fuckin’ kill you!”

“Well, they’d have to know who I was first. Then they’d have to be able to find me. That, however, doesn’t matter because it will be days -- weeks even -- before your men even know you’re dead.”

DeLuca’s eyes had stopped moving and his face was turning blue. I wasn’t sure if he was dead yet, but it was inevitable. I moved behind Alfonso, positioning my hands in the same position.

“Any last words?”

“Give me a number! Name your price, you bastard!”

“Odd last words, but to each his own.” I snapped his neck the same way I had DeLuca’s, then moved around to face both men. Unlike his partner, Alfonso was dead instantly. I checked the pulses of each man. Neither had one.

“Is it done?” Rocket’s voice was matter-of-fact, no emotion at all. Rocket was no stranger to killing. It hadn’t been that long ago they’d taken apart one of our own men. Literally. There were so many pieces of him, disposal would have been as simple as tossing him into the ocean. Scrub had done a more thorough job, of course. But two men with two broken necks was nothing to him. Or me.

“Yep. they’re dead. No surprises.”

“Good. Let’s go.”

We exited the room to find the other bodies gone and Scrub and Blood waiting outside. “I’ll be along in a bit,” Scrub said. “Me and Blood will take care of the bodies.”

“I’ll send Knox back for you. Pretty sure Bullet wants to get back to his woman.”

“Works for me. This will take us a couple hours.”

Thorn stuck out his hand to Rocket who took it in a firm grip. “Thanks for the help.”

“Was gonna say the same to you.”

“Mutual satisfaction, then.”

“Agreed.”

Chapter Eleven

Cecilia

The wait for Bullet to come back was the longest of my life. In reality, I’m sure it was only a couple hours. Felt like days. Not only was I worried sick about him, but what if he didn’t come back?

I trusted him with my life. My fear stemmed from my insecurities. My fears of abandonment and feeling of unworthiness. I was surprised I hadn’t had any hang-ups about sex with Bullet, but I didn’t. I’d wanted sex with him like I wanted my next breath. Probably because, for the first time in my life, I realized how pleasurable sex could be.

I paced around the room I shared with Bullet. Lemon and Apple tried to distract me, but I couldn’t concentrate. Also, I was sure I’d bitten my nails down to the quick.

The door opened and Bullet entered. My breath caught. I wanted to run to him, but I couldn’t seem to move. My breath came out in little pants and I got dizzy. Immediately, Bullet moved to me, picking me up in a big bear hug as he moved across the room to a chair and sat with me on his lap.

“Everything go OK?” I thought that was Lemon talking to Bullet, but I wasn’t sure. Bullet was back. He was safe. If Ettore and Marco were dead, so much the better. But the only thing that mattered to me was that Bullet was home and in one piece.

“Yep. All went according to plan. Rocket was right behind me. He can fill in all the details you want.”

I felt a hand on my shoulder, which was when I realized I was crying on Bullet’s shoulder.
