I take a peek into the basement. It’s different down here. It’s not luxurious at all. The walls are cinderblocks that have been painted grey. The steps are wooden and also painted, although they’re black and have texture to them. My heart races as Kade descends the stairs. I look to my right and I know the front doors are close. They’re just down the hall. I could try to run. A very large part of me wants to.

I take an uneasy step toward the basement door and grip the handle. I could close the door and try to run.

My heart races and thuds in my chest.

“Don’t make me wait for you, angel.” Although Kade’s voice is low and laced with a threat, it eases something inside of me. I let go of the door and walk slowly down the wooden stairs. When I look to my left I can see the room for what it is. It’s mostly empty. The floor is painted black, and the walls are the same grey-painted cinders. There’s a drain in the center of the room, and nothing else. It’s empty.

My heart slows as I think of what this room could be used for. I nearly trip on the last stair as my heart tries to leap out of my throat.

Murder, death. The drain is for blood. That must be it. My hand grips the railing, but my feet are bolted to the ground.

“Olivia, calm down. It’s okay.” Kade puts his hands up and his eyes soften. “It’s alright, angel.” His voice is meant to calm me, but it’s not working.

He walks to me with even steps, and it takes everything in me not to move away from him. “I’m not going to hurt you.” He sounds so sincere. I lift my eyes to meet his, and he slowly drops his lips to mine. His hand cups the back of my head.

His comforting touch feels so welcoming. I lean into him and deepen the kiss. I'll be good. I can be good. My heart swells in my chest. I want to make this right.

He pulls away from me and wraps his hand lightly around my throat. “Olivia,” he begins and pauses to take in a deep breath. “You weren’t supposed to do that.” Sadness clouds his eyes.

“I’m sorry.” I really feel like I betrayed him. I remember what he said, and his promise to free me. I’m so fucking stupid. I take in a ragged breath.

“Please, Kade,” I say and place my hand on his hard chest as I beg him. “I won’t do it again. I promise.”

“Angel, I wish it were that easy.” He takes my hand in both of his and leads me across the room. Under the stairs is a bench covered in a wipeable material and on either side of it are two storage containers.

“I want you to lie down on the bench.” Kade doesn’t even look at me as he gives me his order. I walk slowly to the bench and lie down on my back. The bench is wide enough to easily fit me, and long enough so that there’s plenty of seating left over.

My heart races as Kade opens a box and then the other. I want to look at what he’s getting, but I don’t. I’m terrified. I close my eyes tight and clench my fists.

Just obey, and soon I’ll be free. I can do this.

My eyes pop open as I hear chains above my head. I look up, and sure enough, two chains with shackles are now dangling from the stairs. Kade adjusts them so he can easily lock the shackles around my ankles, then he raises and spreads them wide. Each side of the staircase has a chain affixed. The thin dress I'm wearing slides up, and the cool air breathes against my bared pussy. I swallow thickly, knowing I’m completely vulnerable like this.

“Kade,” I breathe out.

“Yes, Olivia?”

“What are you going to do to me?” I ask. I need to know.

“I’m going to deny you, angel.”

“Deny me what?” I ask as he places a thick strip of cloth over my torso before wrapping and locking a chain around it. Now I’m chained to the bench with my legs in the air, completely spread wide open for him.

He gives me a soft smile and pushes the hair out of my face, but he doesn’t answer me.

“You don’t have to chain me,” I say as he reaches into one of the boxes. He looks at me with a cocked brow. “The chain around my stomach,” I say and clear my dry throat. “I promise I won’t move.” I won't. I'm going to be good for him.

He smirks at me and shakes his head. “You won’t intend to move, but you will. That chain is for your safety. I don’t want you to fall.” He closes the box and looks to the stairs as he takes something out of his pocket. My eyes widen. It's the egg from earlier.
