“My lips are sealed.” I snort. “She’s probably too busy getting all hot and bothered about her video date with Charlie’s dick to listen anyways.”

Brynn cracks up. “Well, hopefully he zooms in.”

I throw my head back, laughing. “I do not want to know.”

“You really, really don’t. Trust me, when I was roommates with her last year?”

She makes a face, holding up a finger and her thumb about an inch apart, and I lose it again.

“Eeew! You saw it?!”

She giggles. “Only on her laptop screen once when she thought I was sleeping.”

“Wow, that is…”

Brynn grins, shrugging. “Alright, I’m out. Hey, don’t go to that dumb party tonight, okay? Ian is seriously a fucking creep.”

“Yeah, maybe not. We’ll see.”

She smiles. “Alright, call me later.”

I watch as my friend trots off, when suddenly, I feel a presence behind me. And I just know. Maybe it’s the scent of him. Or the heat sizzling off his body. Or maybe there’s some kind of mental thing connecting us now, after last night when he went down on me.

I blush furiously, heat sizzling through me as I slowly turn.

“Hi,” I say quietly.

His eyes pierce into mine, his chest rising with a deep breath.

“What was that?”

I frown. “What was what? Me talking to my friends?”

His brow furrows. “That’s not what I’m talking about.”

And suddenly, I know. He means me talking with Ian. I’m about to brush it off, but then I flash back to the night before, and the utterly insane, asshole way he made me scream and come like crazy only to run off like a total psycho. Last night, he made me go crazy. And then he made me feel like shit.

I’m ready to return the favor on the second part.

“Oh, that?” I say sweetly as I smile. “That was just me talking to a cute boy.”

He arches a brow.

“Really.”

“Yep, really.”

Camden folds his muscled, inked arms over his chest, his white t-shirt tight over his muscles and his perfectly fitted swim shorts hugging his ass and his thighs way too well.

“Why so curious?”

He shrugs. “No reason.”

There’s a hard look between us.

“None, huh?”

“Nope.”

I rake my teeth over my lip.

“So, it doesn’t bother you that I’m going to a house party with him tonight at Scott Manning’s parent’s house?”

A flicker of something fierce teases over his face, but it fades quickly.

“Only in that you’re not supposed to leave campus at night. But you live off campus anyways, so it’s not my concern.”

His words are cold and leaden, and I swallow thickly as he just shrugs.

“Now get in the pool.”

I scowl at him.

“Why.”

“Because it’s fucking swim practice,” he growls. “That’s why. Get in and do fifty butterfly laps.”

My jaw drops.

“What?”

“You heard me,” Camden growls. “Now.”

“Are you punishing me?”

He sighs. “Why would I be punishing you.”

“For talking to Ian.”

He frowns. “You’re not my property, you’re my swimmer, Waverly,” he growls quietly. “So, get in the damn pool.”

“You’re being a dick.”

He looks away. “And you’re having a shitty practice. Get in.”

“Fine.”

I storm past him and slip into the water, and I just go for it. I swim, and I do his fucking laps, and I just keep doing them. I lose track at thirty, but when people start to get out of the pool and watch me, and cheer me on, I know I’m far past fifty. In the end, I swim until my damn arms and legs are about to give out entirely, and it’s then that I somehow flounder to the side of the pool and cling to the edge almost desperately.

My vision fades, my arms are fucking numb, and I’m gasping for air and holding on to the side for dear life when I’m aware of someone walking over to me. I glance up, frowning when I realize it’s Ian.

“Way to fuckin’ slay it out there, Owens!”

I scowl.

“Uh, yeah.”

“So, I’ll text you the address for tonight, cool?” He makes a face. “Wait, can you even sneak out with your mom being the fucking Vice Principle?”

My eyes swivel past Ian, and something heated teases through me as I see Camden standing a few yards behind him talking to some other girls from the team. But he’s looking right at me, those blue eyes wild and fierce and his perfect jaw clenched tight.

“Yeah,” I mutter, still starting right at Camden. “Yeah I can sneak out.”

“Sweet. See you tonight. Shit’s gonna be epic.”

Somehow, I drag myself from the water. My body is on fire with the exertion, and my eyes looking right at the man who’s got me twisted up and all sorts of turned around before I turn sharply and march off to the locker rooms.

Camden

Three years ago:

“It’s going to be fine.”

She shakes her head, blonde hair billowing wildly and tears running down her face as she turns and looks out the open window of the Maserati.

“Gina, look at me.”
