“Why the fuck are you in my room?” I growled as I stepped inside and shut my door behind me.

A coy smile tilted her lips. “You look a bit wound up, Whiler. Figured you wouldn’t last much longer down there. Thought I’d give you some relief.”

I clenched my jaw, running my eyes over her. Those freckles drew my attention first, and my tongue tingled with the urge to lick a map out of them. Stretch marks lined her breasts, and her waist dipped in before flaring out to wider hips. That belly ring glistened in the low light my lamp cast across the room. Her blue eyes were flared with need and lust.

“You’re playing a dangerous game, Cannon,” I rumbled as I toed off my boots. To hell with trying to keep my distance from her. Maybe if I fucked her one good time, I could get her out of my system. Maybe then it would be easier to keep her the fuck away from me. To turn her the hell away when she came back wanting more.

She shrugged at me. “I’ve never been one to take the cautious road, Whiler.”

I strode to the bed and flipped her onto her stomach, yanking her to the edge of the mattress. If she was surprised by my rough handling of her, she didn’t say a word or make a noise. She just settled her feet on the floor and rose on her tiptoes before spreading her legs for me. I unbuckled my belt and undid my jeans before reaching into my side table drawer, pulling out a condom.

She squeaked in surprise when I shoved into her. She was wet but maybe not exactly enough. Whatever. Wasn’t my fucking problem. I told her she was playing a fucking dangerous game. And I intended to show her how badly she would get burned if she continued playing with fire.

Fisting her hair in my hand, I stayed silent, using her body as I wanted. Reading the room and my bad mood easily enough, she rolled her lips into her mouth, holding in every sound she wanted to make. Her walls tightened around me, and I gritted my teeth, snarling down at her as she came around my cock.

Fuck. How was she even into this? I was using her. No doubt hurting her. And she still seemed to enjoy herself. As was proven by the small moan she let escape her lips before she burrowed her face in my comforter.

My balls drew up tight, and I leaned over her, sinking my teeth into her shoulder hard enough to make her bleed. She screamed, her walls clenching around me again, strangling my dick. Snarling, I spilled into the condom and released her skin from my teeth, watching blood trail over her ivory, freckled skin.

When I pulled out of her, she was trembling, her breath sawing out of her lungs. I tied the condom before dropping it into the trashcan. She managed to stand on her feet and turn to face me, looking unsure. And I hated that my dick was raring to go again at the sight of her blood trailing from the mark I’d left in her skin.

No doubt she’d scar. And I hated the odd pleasure that filled me with. I couldn’t want her again. Couldn’t picture that bite on her skin as my mark.

It was a deadly road for me to travel down. I couldn’t get attached to someone again. I’d only let them down just like I had Helena.

“You need to go,” I told her. My voice sounded like I’d been chewing on gravel. It took everything in me to say the words to her, but she had to go. She couldn’t stay in here.

She narrowed her eyes at me. “You can’t even be a decent human being and allow me to rinse this fucking wound you left before you boot me out?” she sneered, getting angry. Finally something other than constant placating. I could deal with her anger. Match it even. “What the fuck even was that, Whiler?!” she yelled at me.

I crossed the distance between us in two steps and wrapped my hand around her throat hard enough to bruise, my muscles bunching. Her eyes widened, her pupils flaring with fear. She choked and wrapped her hands around my wrist, digging her nails in. I barely even felt it.

I lowered my face so our breaths mingled. “Watch who the fuck you’re talking to,” I seethed. Then, I shoved her away from me, watching as she fell to her ass on the floor. “Get the fuck out.”

She grabbed her clothes and stormed to the door. But before she left, she looked over her shoulder at me, her chest heaving, the fear gone from her gaze. Now the only thing left was rage. “I’m not an easy woman to dismiss, Whiler. Keep that in mind.”
