Exactly two hours from crossing the threshold of the downstairs elevator bank, Greer was back, pushing the call button to take him and Dallas to their rooms. He stood silently, staring at the indicator lights, waiting for their lift car to arrive. Dallas’s hand rested in his. Their fingers had been entwined for a majority of the last one hundred twenty minutes. The comfortable fit and weight never grew old. His hand craved the touch, seeking out Dallas anytime he strayed too far away.

All his well-placed forewarnings, putting Dallas on notice about the whys and hows of how the evening would progress, were all for naught. Greer kept Dallas right there beside him for the entire length of the gala.

Usually, these political fundraisers were as effective at generating new investors as was the chatter on the greens of the golf course. Not tonight. Nothing measured to the irresistible man by his side or his profound sense of pride that such a fine man chose to spend any time with him at all.

As Dallas projected, he had remained quiet, barely speaking to anyone. When he did, Dallas solely spoke of StreamTrainer. He’d been a perfect spokesperson for the company, building enough excitement to create a low-level buzz all evening.

Greer had fielded questions about Dallas and saw all the weighted assessment from his peers. Interestingly, he never saw condemnation in those sly stares. Instead, Dallas was a draw for both men and women. Dallas had no idea of his value, seemingly unaware of any of the interest cast his way.

His leg bounced at the overlong wait.

Greer’s somewhat aloof composure became harder to maintain when all he wanted to do was be alone with Dallas. It wasn’t even sex that drove him this time. He wanted to finish their getting to know each other game, and he needed to understand better why Dallas’s family was such a problem. He couldn’t develop a strategic master plan to move past Dallas’s biggest hang-up until he knew their true obstacles.

He looked at his watch. Ten o’clock. In a few short hours they would leave for their quick jaunt to Guatemala. That was how much time he had to gain all the confessions and explanations. He planned to ply Dallas with alcohol to loosen his lips. If he could manage it, he hoped for a bit of lovemaking on that fantastic balcony before they left in the early morning hours.

This elevator was taking too long.

Finally, two elevators beeped at once. Dallas took a small step forward, but Greer took a giant side-step backward, letting the others who gathered behind them on to the closest lift. He turned to race to the second car at the end of the elevator bank. He rapidly pressed the close button before Dallas ever stepped inside.

Greer released Dallas’s hand for the first time in the last hour and watched the doors close while seeing another couple trying to make it to them before it was too late. He did have some guilt for not delaying the elevator, but new love and the desire to be alone with his man outweighed doing the right thing. He gave an apologetic wince and a shrug as the doors sealed closed.

His enticing Dallas took the ledge on one side while already reaching for the knot in his silk tie. “Are we done for the night?”

As much as Greer liked Dallas all dressed to impress, he also liked him warm and welcoming in his casual attire. Better if Dallas’s big powerful body, with all its defined heavy muscle and tight cords—

Stop, Greer. Talk first. The honeymoon phase of their new love had to wait.

“Done downstairs? Yup.”

Dallas released the small buttons at the top of his dress shirt then pulled the silk tie free of the collar. “I think you pretend to be tough, but you’re really a kind guy.” Dallas’s steely gaze assessed him, but the knowing crooked grin spoke of sex appeal.

Oh hell. His own libido needed no help.

Greer shook his head, trying to clear his mind of the rogue thoughts. “You’re not getting out of here without telling me what’s going on with you. I’m not leaving until I know, because you’ll bolt again otherwise.” Good. Greer sounded firm and in control. They didn’t automatically have to fall into bed anytime there was one nearby.

Dallas took a step toward Greer. A purposeful seduction-worthy step. Then another. “I’ve thought of a question of my own. When you swallow me, what do I taste like?”

Greer hissed, throwing a hand out to stop Dallas when he took the next step forward.

The shock of such a question coming from his reserved-to-a-fault mister added another layer to their relationship. Greer was in trouble with this one. His cock swelled rapidly, stiff as a board. His mouth watered, ready to confirm whether his memory was a correct representation.
