“Fuck, I missed these tits. Tell me I can touch you, Valen,” he says again, but this time, his tone is tortured. Almost begging. And so am I.

“No,” I breathe, so close to breaking. “I think—”

“You’re going to come for me?”

I nod my answer, no longer able to find my voice. I’m too focused on chasing this feeling. Holden drops one of my legs and I practically whine in protest, but then he’s pulling my bottoms to the side, letting the stream of water hit my clit directly.

“Oh my God.” My back bows, legs tensing.

“You want me to touch you now?”

“Please,” I breathe out in a rush, too far gone.

“You want my hands or my mouth?”

“Your mouth.” I don’t hesitate. Keeping me supported with one arm, he moves to my side and leans over, licking my nipple once, twice, before taking it into his mouth. I cling to him, fisting his hair.

“I told you I’d grow it back out for you,” he taunts.

“I’m coming,” I breathe, holding him in place as he sucks on me, my legs starting to shake.

“You want my fingers?”

“Yes!”

Two fingers slide into me, and that’s all it takes for me to break apart. Eyes squeezed shut, I clench around him, the force of my orgasm ripping through me, and his free hand covers my mouth to muffle my cry as his tongue and lips continue their assault on me.

His hands slip away and I open my eyes to a sea of stars above me, with nothing but the sound of our ragged breaths, floating weightlessly. Almost immediately, reality sets in and along with it, the embarrassment. Did I really just let Holden touch me in a hot tub? And where anyone could see?

I release my grip, pulling my bathing suit back into place. As I peel myself off him, I brush against him, feeling his hard length bobbing against my thigh. When I finally meet Holden’s eyes, they’re self-assured and full of lust.

I’m tempted to return the favor, to wrap my hand around him and make him feel half as good as he just made me feel, just to wipe that cocky look off his face. Instead, I stand up and immediately regret doing so. The air is so cold. I climb out on shaky legs, willing them to get me to my room before giving out, lightheaded from the jacuzzi or the orgasm, maybe both.

“You lost,” I say, snatching my towel off the handrail, wrapping it around me. I wasn’t planning on getting my hair wet, but that went to shit the moment I agreed to let Holden show me his little party trick.

“Come again?”

“You used your hands. You lost.” I shrug. “Better luck next time.”

“You asked me to,” he argues. “Begged me to, really. If I’m not mistaken, there was even a please involved.”

“Fuck off.” I did say please. Embarrassing.

“Planning to,” he says, with a pointed look at his crotch. “So you can stay and watch, or you can run away. Again.” His challenge hangs in the air between us, but we’ve pushed our luck enough as it is.

“As tempting as that sounds, I think I’ll pass.” My tone is sarcastic, but there’s truth in the statement. It is tempting, for reasons I’d rather not explore.

I step inside, shutting the door as quietly as I can, and when I turn around, I see a shirtless Thayer standing in the kitchen. He freezes, knife full of peanut butter poised above a slice of bread and another one with jelly sits on his plate. He looks over my shoulder, as if he knows someone else is out there. My heart pounds in my chest and my ears get hot. Did he see something? Hear something? He looks just as surprised to see me, so maybe I’m in the clear. It’s not weird to use the hot tub alone, in the middle of the night, right? That was my plan, after all.

Except Holden chooses this very moment to make an appearance. I hear the door slide open behind me. I feel him at my back, heat radiating from his overheated skin, but when his freezing wet shorts press into me from behind, I jolt forward.

“Late night snack?” he asks Thayer, appearing completely unfazed by the possibility of getting caught as he drips water all over the hardwood.

Thayer slaps the two slices of bread together before taking a bite and mumbling his answer around a mouthful of food. “Yeah.” He bobs his head, chewing. “You?”

“Same.”

I close my eyes, internally cringing at his implication. Jesus Christ, Holden. As subtle as a fucking sledgehammer, as per usual. When I open my eyes, Thayer is glaring at Holden, and I take that as my cue to leave. They’re silent as I make my way up the stairs, waiting until they think I’ve gone in my room before they start talking. I stand quietly in the dark hallway to listen. I can only see the light of the kitchen from up here, but their voices carry clear as day.
