He followed me into my bedroom.

“I can give you some clothes.” I went to the dresser, opened a drawer, and got him a pair of basketball shorts.

“Thanks.” Cam nodded, then disappeared into the en suite. I heard the sink run as I grabbed a pair of underwear for myself. It struck me then that I was standing there naked as I waited for my male lover, who was also my fake boyfriend, to clean up in the bathroom. A chuckle slipped past my lips just as Cam came out wearing nothing but the navy-blue shorts I’d given him.

“What’s so funny?”

“Nothing.” I shook my head.

I took my turn in the bathroom, cleaning up quickly, then pulled on my briefs and went back into the room again. Cam was lying in the middle of the bed, blanket pulled up to his waist and his arms bent with his hands behind his head.

Goose bumps pebbled along my skin. Jesus, he really was sexy.

“I didn’t know which side of the bed was yours, and are we gonna have to go again? Not that it’s a hardship. You’re looking at me like it’s killing you to keep your hands off me.”

Which it likely was, but I also thought maybe it was a bad idea to do anything else that night. “So fucking cocky,” I teased. “And I don’t have a side of the bed.”

“Are you crazy? Everyone has a side of the bed. I think something is wrong with you.”

I climbed in beside him. “Something is obviously wrong with me since I like you.”

“Aww, you like me?” he said playfully, and I rolled my eyes before reaching over and turning off the lamp.

“No.”

“Liar.”

“You’ll never get me to admit it again.”

“I don’t need you to. I see it every time you look at me.”

My pulse stumbled a bit at that. Damn Camden Burke and his bluntness. For a moment I just lay there, unsure what to do, but then he rolled over and wrapped an arm around me.

“Shh, don’t tell anyone my secret, but I’m a snuggler. Is this okay?”

“Yeah. But I’m not sure I’m going to keep your secret. You might have to bribe me.”

“Um…were you there for that blowjob I just gave you? It doesn’t get any better than that. You owe a shit ton more secrets for that alone.”

“And there’s the fact that you’re willing to be my pretend boyfriend I hook up with. I owe you for that too,” I admitted.

“Nah. I get orgasms out of that. Those are thanks enough.”

A chuckle stumbled out of my mouth, but then it got me thinking about sex—sex and Camden, and sex between two men… “You’re usually a top, right?” I made myself ask. I’d become versed in the jargon since I moved to Fever Falls and started working at Fever.

Cam laughed against me. “Oh God. It’s weird to hear you say that.” He pushed up on his elbow, and even though it was dark, I could see the outline of him looking down at me. “I always top. I haven’t bottomed since—”

“Henry?” I asked, unsure why I held my breath while waiting for his answer.

“No. I wasn’t going to say him. It was when I lost my virginity to a guy. I was nineteen. It was a hookup with an older guy. I was scared out of my fucking mind, but I wanted to experience it, so I did it, and it wasn’t great. I’m sure it was because I was so tense and he didn’t take the time to make sure I relaxed like I should. I topped Henry, and every other guy I’ve been with, though I do enjoy a little ass play. There’s nothing quite like a finger up your hole and hitting your prostate just right.”

I rolled my eyes, but damned if my face didn’t feel hot.

“I think you’re blushing, Boyfriend. I don’t have to see you to know that. And if we get to the point where fucking is on the table, if I top, then I promise you, I’ll make it good for you. But if that’s not what you want, I’ll bottom for you.”

His answer was a shock to my system, a jolt through my chest. It meant a lot that he was willing to do that for me.

But…

A tendril of interest curled in my gut. I was curious what it was like to be on the receiving end, but I wasn’t sure that was something I could say. It wasn’t something I really had time to work through yet, so I said, “Henry…he’s different from me. I’m different from every guy I’ve seen you interested in at Fever.” It was something I’d thought many times in the past. I wasn’t Camden’s type. He went for smaller, twinkier guys.

“My physical tastes run toward a specific look, yeah. But on the other hand, I like beautiful things, and I’m not sure it gets much prettier than you.”
