Cam cocked his head. He’d gotten a haircut recently, his light brown, almost dark blond, hair shorter on both the sides and on top than it typically was. He had some stubble along his jaw, which was perfectly sculpted and really fucking strong, no matter how many times I told myself I didn’t notice.
Look away. Why the hell wasn’t I looking away?
I saw his mouth move, noticed he was whispering something to Melissa? Melinda? I couldn’t remember exactly what her name was, but I knew it started with an M.
Then he was walking over to me, and I rolled my eyes and took a few steps in the opposite direction, toward the corner of the building, where it was a little quieter.
“Hey…you okay?” Cam asked.
“Yeah, why wouldn’t I be?” My voice had a sharp edge to it that I hadn’t planned.
“Don’t know. You seem a little off. You left without saying goodbye. You don’t usually.”
When I’d gone to the back room to clock out, he had still been at the bar. “So did you. You were already outside when I got here.”
“Because I noticed you were gone. Wasn’t sure when you left. We normally talk for a bit.”
“You were busy.”
Cam grinned, this mischievous half-grin he always did. “You jealous, Beautiful?”
I waited for the discomfort to slide down my spine, which often happened when someone gave me a compliment, but it didn’t come. I knew if I ever asked Cam not to call me that, he wouldn’t, but I never did. I opened my mouth, and for a moment I thought that’s what would fall out, but it didn’t. “Did you ask her here to try and make me jealous?”
What. The. Fuck? Why had I asked that?
“Um…no? I asked her out because she’s sexy as hell, sweet, and always a good time. This isn’t a first with Mel, just the first time she’s come to Fever. Are you really jealous?” Cam’s forehead wrinkled as though the thought surprised him, which I guessed it should.
“What? No. That’s ridiculous.” But shit, I thought maybe a part of me was, and it was confusing and pissed me off.
“Come home with us,” Cam said, serious as hell. He wasn’t smiling, and there was nothing playful in his gaze.
“Are you fucking crazy?”
“No.” He shook his head. “It’ll be fun. I promise you, Melinda won’t care. I’ll ask her first, of course, but I know her. She’ll fucking love it. You don’t have to touch me, and I won’t touch you. We’ll just…share a beautiful woman.”
Damned if my cock didn’t begin to plump up. My skin wasn’t too tight anymore, but started to tingle. “I can’t do that.”
“You can if you want to. It won’t change anything. We’ll just have a little fun. You say no, and it stops. You say no right now, and I’ll walk away.”
Again, my mouth opened, but this time nothing came out. Have a threesome with Camden and a woman? My dick jerked, and fuck if it didn’t obviously like the idea.
I’d done a lot of shit in my past, been with my fair share of women, but I’d never had a threesome with another man. Two women? Yes. But including a guy wasn’t something I’d ever thought about, that I ever wanted. Rush I’d wanted all to myself, and there had never been another guy for me, but a part of me, one I wasn’t sure how to deal with, wanted to say yes to Camden.
“I…” I started, just as Melinda wrapped her arms around Cam from behind.
“Our car is here. Is your friend going to come and play with us?” she asked, and Cam grinned at me, as if saying, I told you she won’t care.
We stood there for what felt like a damn eternity. I wanted to say yes, fuck if I didn’t want to say yes, but I couldn’t make myself do it. He was right. It was just sex, but that felt different with him.
Cam seemed to know. He shrugged slightly, and I knew he meant, I tried, then he turned to Melinda. “Just going to be us tonight. Jude is straight.”
My stomach twisted up, and my hands twitched. How many times had I said that very thing to him? Only it sounded wrong on his tongue.
“You want to watch? You can if you want,” Melinda said.
Cam started, “That’s nice of you, darlin’, but—”
“Yes,” I cut him off. I didn’t know where that came from or what the fuck I was doing, but still, I said it again, “Yes.”
“You sure?” Camden crossed his arms.
“Unless you’re uninviting me.” Now that I’d decided, I was going through with this. I wasn’t backing down.
“You know that’s not gonna happen. Let’s go.” There was a tightness to Camden’s voice I was unfamiliar with. Still, the moment he began to walk, I followed.
