“What the fuck are you doing? How’d you get in here?” I demand, crossing my arms over my chest. They stick to the wet material, but I ignore it at this point.

“You invited me,” she coos.

“The fuck I did!” I thunder, reaching for my phone in my shorts pocket. Only it’s not there. The device is in my gym bag in the living room.

“I saw you earlier when I was in the restaurant. You were talking to the server about ordering dinner for two.”

Jeanie was there? I was so focused on placing my order, I didn’t even see her sitting nearby. “And so you hear dinner for two and automatically think that means you?”

She shrugs and slowly gets up, crawling toward me, a coy smile on her face. “You knew I was sitting there. You’ve noticed me in the restaurant all week. I know you have. I also knew you’d never just walk up and invite me upstairs, not since you’re so concerned about dating employees. But now, well, now I’m not an employee, Eli. Like you said when you walked in, I know you’ve been thinking about my pussy.”

I growl and slide my hands through my wet hair. “Bullshit. I want you to leave immediately, Jeanie. Ordering food wasn’t an invitation to you. It was dinner for me and my girlfriend.”

Her smile seems to falter just a little, before she plasters it back into place. “Girlfriend? Is that what I am?”

“No. You’re not. I’m giving you three seconds to get out of my penthouse before I call security and have you removed.”

Her eyes narrow. “You wouldn’t.”

“Oh, I most certainly would. You’re not welcome here, Jeanie. There’s nothing between us. Never has been and never will be.”

She kneels on the bed and crosses her arms. “Because of your girlfriend?”

“Yes, because of her. I love her, and I wouldn’t do anything to jeopardize her or our relationship.”

She seems to turn angry right before my eyes. “Who is she?”

“Doesn’t matter. You now have one minute before I call security.”

“Fuck you, Eli! You led me on from day one, and now you’re just going to toss me away? For what? Some whore?”

Now I see red. “Get out of my apartment right this second. You are no longer allowed on this property or any owned by Morrison Hotels.”

She huffs, but eventually gets up and stalks toward a bag on the floor by my closet. “You’ve made a huge mistake, Eli. You can’t toy with me and throw me away like I’m a piece of trash. You’ll pay for this!”

“Get out.”

I watch as she grabs her bag and slips a dress on over her lingerie. I really wish I had my phone right now to call security, but I’m not leaving her alone in my bedroom.

She slowly moves from the room to the living room, and the first second I can grab my bag and retrieve my phone, I do. With my eyes on the woman standing in the middle of my apartment, I dial the number for the office downstairs and wait for him to answer. “This is Eli in the penthouse. I need security up here immediately to escort an unwanted guest out of the hotel.”

“On our way, sir,” the man replies before immediately hanging up.

“Who is she?” Jeanie whispers, turning back to face me with tears in her eyes.

“It doesn’t matter.”

“Because she doesn’t matter?” she asks, smiling once more.

“That’s not what I said. I just don’t want her name anywhere near your lips.”

My comment seems to agitate her once more, but I’m saved from any further comments by the chime of the arriving elevator.

As soon as the door opens, I see George, head of security, along with Brock, the bellhop. “Miss James is trespassing in my apartment. She is no longer allowed on this property or that of any owned by Morrison.”

“Understood,” George states, both men approaching the young woman.

“Don’t you touch me,” she seethes as George reaches out for her arm.

“Then come down with me immediately, Miss James, before we’re forced to phone the police.”

“This isn’t over.” Jeanie glares over her shoulder at me before walking toward the elevator on too-high heels.

“It’s very over, Jeanie. I’m not interested in you. I’d appreciate it if you’d leave me alone. If you don’t, I will file a restraining order.”

She steps into the elevator, her eyes narrowing into little slits, Brock and George each on one side of her.

“I’ll be back,” George informs before pressing the button to close the door.

Once I’m alone, I sigh in relief. I can’t believe that crazy woman broke into my place. First thing I need to do is change the elevator code. No one besides myself, security, and housekeeping is supposed to know the code. Obviously, we need to do better at keeping that information secure.

A few minutes later, the elevator chimes once again. Expecting to see George, I’m both surprised and relieved to find Marley there. She smiles instantly, a bag thrown over her shoulder as she exits the elevator. “Hey, you.”
