“Thank you, Father. But the ceremony was now just a formality. The Winter Lord is already mine.”

Boraleashe stood with Theodor and waited until he’d finished hugging his father and was reassured that Fhomhair would be taken care of until his return.

Zepharali rode off toward the Keep’s stables, giving him and Theodor a few last precious seconds alone. Theodor wrapped him tight in his arms, giving him what he needed.

Boraleashe locked his hands behind Theodor’s neck and buried his face in his throat, inhaling his dominating scent, his lips against the hot skin over his calm pulse.

“I meant what I said, Boraleashe.” Theodor wove his hand under Boraleashe’s robe and rubbed up and down his back. “You are already mine. Always have been.”

“And I don’t need a high priest to proclaim that I am yours and only yours.” Boraleashe placed appreciative kisses along Theodor’s throat.

He clasped Boraleashe’s chin and tilted his mouth higher. He knew the drill by now and opened, accepting Theodor’s ravenous tongue, moaning unashamedly, wanting his king to know how insane he was for him.

He broke the kiss and cupped his husband’s jaw. “Theodor. My mother was an oracle for the Goddess of Winter. Before she died, she prophesied that I would meet a man, a warrior, that would be destined for glory… for greatness. And I would be by his side.”

Theodor whispered across Boraleashe’s tongue, the declaration dripping with passion and honesty. “I love you.”

Boraleashe didn’t say those three words in return. They weren’t grand enough for what he felt for the treasure granted to him by the gods. He kept their mouths sealed together, not kissing but savoring. He pressed his chest against Theodor’s, spread his core wide open, and let his entire heart soar.

Theodor gave a full-body shudder, fisting the back of Boraleashe’s tunic with a guttural moan.

“Have I the capacity to receive it all, Boraleashe?” Theodor’s breath was shallow. “Your love is overpowering.”

Boraleashe pressed his mouth closer and breathed frosty air into Theodor’s lungs.

“I’ll never tire of your many gifts, Winter Lover.”

The pounding hooves of three powerful stallions made the ground tremble, signaling their few seconds were over and it was time for them to leave.

“You ready for our first battle together, my destined king?”

“I will fight at your side for eternity,” Theodor answered, his hazel gaze lingering a few seconds before he vaulted into the air and landed on Meadow’s back with ease.

Boraleashe stared into the pale blue sky at his horse, Frostreign, moving gracefully toward him. He’d prepared for his death for so long, but Theodor was his blessing of a new, more abundant life.

Praise the gods
