I slide my phone unlocked and bring it to my ear. “What?”

“Sorry to disturb you. I didn’t—”

“Just spit it out, Melissa.”

She breathes out a sigh. “Look, we’re having issues over here, and one of you might need to come and sort it out.”

“Tonight? How are you having problems tonight?”

Melissa clears her throat, and for the fifth time since being back in this fucking town that I can’t escape, I think I might take up Malyk’s hobby. “It’s bad. I haven’t seen anything like it.”

“Be there as soon as we can.”

“No, Dion. As soon as possible, I’m serious. This is nothing like I’ve seen before, and it’s kind of freaking everyone out just a little. She is unhinged.”

I hang up on Melissa and turn around to make my way back inside to get Sparrow and Mal when Raidne stops me. She’s standing at the entrance, leaning against the doorway. I can’t fucking escape her if I wanted to.

“Going somewhere?”

“Fuck you.”

She laughs out loudly, her mouth widening. Don’t get me wrong. The trio is hot. Raidne, Blaire, and obviously Shiloh, but Rai has always been the troublesome of the three. I don’t know if it’s because she came into their trio later than the others, and their clique was already formed, but she has always just—existed around them. In saying that, Blaire and Shiloh are a hard bond to be surrounded by. Their friendship is almost visible to the eye, and everyone around them feels it.

“Aw, D.” She closes the distance between us, placing her hand on my shoulder. Leaning into me slightly, I hiss when I feel her skin touch mine. “You and I both know we have the same amount of secrets.”

I shove her off me, shoulder-barging past as I head back into the room. I find Sparrow and Malyk instantly. Not hard to since anywhere Shiloh is, they will be.

I lean against the table, bringing my eyes to them both. “Gonna have to speed this up a bit.”

“Why?” Sparrow asks, casting a lingering glance over my shoulder.

“It’s started.”

“Mel call you?” he asks, tossing back the rest of his drink and swiping up his phone.

“Yeah. She didn’t say much, obviously, but she said that she had never seen anything like it, and I’m pretty sure Mahlia is causing issues again.”

Sparrow turns to find Shiloh, and we both follow his line of sight. “Kind of wish we played with her a bit more leading up to it.”

“We will.” He stops walking, turning from side to side. “Where the fuck is she?”

“She’s probably out back racking lines with the other two misfits.”

“Did not peg her as a cokehead.” Sparrow rolls his eyes, and I chuckle.

“I did. There’s a hell of a lot more to her than you know. The Shiloh you’ve met isn’t the one I knew.”

“I fucked her in the ocean. I’m starting to get the feeling I know her just fine.”

Sparrow shoves people out of the way.

I chuckle. “Of course you fucking did.”

I wondered if I’d ever see her again. Was she still alive? I couldn’t stop thinking as the plane landed on the tarmac. I hated this town. I didn’t want to be back here. I watched as the ocean came into view around the side of the plane, the familiar large cliff at the edge.

The Landing.

I risked everything every single time I had to come back here. I hated it. Hades Hollow.

Now I had to pretend to be here for my best friend’s birthday, or for what? For another game that they wanted to play. I had to find their new recruit. Who was she? Why had she distracted them so much, and where the fuck was that poor, defenseless girl? No one was sold without my approval, so I knew she wasn’t. I knew she wasn’t dead either. Unless she was. And Malyk just couldn’t fucking help himself this time.

I often thought about Dion, the way he’d make me feel any time he was near. Sparrow too. I wanted them. I did. I just wasn’t sure why.

I turned my airplane mode off and opened a new text.

Happy birthday to our main bitch! Fuck, I have missed her.

Cooper sent one thousand emojis and a simple reply… We missed you too, Blaire.

Shiloh

“Shi!” Ruin jogs up behind me as I’m making my way toward Cooper’s car, where his “other” phone is. I made up some lame excuse that I went for a swim with mine, even though it’s not totally unbelievable since the last time we all went cliff jumping, I left my phone in my pocket. “Hey!”

Ruin’s hand comes to my elbow, stopping me. “What the fuck is happening? Why did I see you kissing Malyk, and then you fucking Sparrow in the ocean?”

I pause, stepping backward and away from him. “Last I checked, you didn’t want a girlfriend, and I was definitely not that, so what’s the problem?” I push away from him and continue my trip to the car, ignoring the way the wind whistles through the trees. The weather has been good all day, but now there is a sense of… “What time is it?”
