“I don’t know if I can ever feel good about it,” I say. “But I am glad she has what she deserves.”

Bohdi steps forward and pulls me into his arms. “It’s going to be okay. You got me. You got the boys. You got every single thing you need. We’ll never let you fall.”

I wrap my arms around him. “I do have everything I need. Finally.”

Maybe Lennon is free now.

But so am I.

We’re both free.

And it feels pretty damned good.

SIX MONTHS LATER

MERLEIGH

“I can’t believe you’re leaving us,” I say to Samson, giving him another hug. “It won’t be the same without you here, or you.”

I smile at Lilian, and she returns the smile. She’s radiant and doing so well. Samson has pulled her broken pieces back together and been a great father to her. The kind of father that will change her entire world. Now, he’s leaving the club. After long talks with Alarick, he agreed to let him go.

Samson is leaving the King’s Descendants and going on the road with his daughter to travel the world.

He deserves it.

So does she.

We’ll miss him.

“It won’t be the same without all of you, but you’ll see me again. Promise you that,” Samson tells me, squeezing my shoulder with a smile.

“You ready, brother?” Alarick asks, walking towards us.

Samson nods. “I’m ready.”

We all gather around the fire at the cookout we’re having at the club, and I take Bohdi’s hand. I look around to where the boys are running around playing, and I smile. They’re happy and settling in well. I’m happy and everyone is just...at peace.

Finally.

It took me a while to get over what happened with Lennon, but finally, I decided to use her money to get us a bigger place. I put down the deposit and Bohdi purchased the rest. We got a four-bedroom cottage, right on the beach this time. I can walk out every morning into the sand. We hear the waves every time we go to sleep at night.

It’s perfect.

I have even managed to learn to stand on the surfboard...in the water.

The boys are far better than me, of course, but that’s to be expected. They are natural-born surfers, I’m far too clumsy. Still, I enjoy every second of it. It brings me the same kind of peace and freedom it brings Bohdi, and that is a great feeling.

Briella steps up next to me, hand on her swelling bump. She found out she was pregnant five months ago, and my god, we are so happy for her. She found out they’re having a little girl and she is overjoyed. After losing so much of her family, this brings life back into her world. She is going to make a great mother. I am so excited for her.

Cova went off on her own, but after about three months, she came back and checked in with Briella. Slowly, the two of them are forming a relationship. Cova needed time and being on her own gave her that. I’m happy that they’re finally mending bridges, they deserve that. Both of them.

The rest of the gang are doing well, they’re happy and going strong. Aviana and Cohen moved out to the beach, too. Aviana said she loved it so much out there, that she just wanted to live that life. I’m happy because I have someone to walk with every day. She even got a job at the same café as me and she’s becoming a great friend.

Waverly and Mykel are expecting a baby, too, but she’s only very early in her pregnancy so nobody knows yet. She told me because I’m her best friend. I’m so excited for her and keeping everything crossed it goes well. Two babies in the club will be utterly incredible.

Zariah and Kendric are off on a worldwide holiday. They will be gone for months, but they check in often and sound like they’re having an incredible time. When Zariah gets back, she has been offered a job as a police officer at a new station that’s opened up. It sounds like a great place, and they wanted her, so she decided to go back in.

I’m super happy for her.

Everyone is just perfect.

But now, we have to say goodbye to Samson.

He’s one of our own, but after what happened he has never felt the same with the club. He betrayed them and that was weighing heavily on his mind. He broke that trust, and it takes a while to get back, so this was the best road for him to go down. Usually, clubs wouldn’t agree to something like this, but Alarick was far more understanding and decided it was the right choice, too.

So, we’re letting him go.

“Samson,” Alarick says when we all gather around. “You’ve been my brother in this club for a long time, more than that, you’ve been my friend. Things haven’t always been good, and some bad things went down between us, but you proved your loyalty and because of that, I’m releasing you from your vow to always stand with us. Your daughter needs you. Want to thank you for your service, you’ll always be our brother.”
