“When that bastard proposed to you yesterday, the look on your face … hurt me. I wanted to tear him apart with my bare hands. I hated him that much.”

I remembered it as clearly as he recalled it. I also remembered the one person I had searched for in the midst of it all, was him. That the only thing I could believe right then was that as long as he was still around, that somehow things would be okay. I didn’t understand when or why I had developed such a deep attachment and trust of him, but it had seen me through that incredibly dark moment. “Why did you shake your head at me?” I asked, more tears crawling down my cheeks.

“Because I saw you were at your limit, you were about to fall apart, and do something stupid like run to me. It would have ruined everything. Like I said before, I have plans. They have to be uncovered slowly. Your father’s pride has to be kept at all costs. He puts a high price on it.” He brushed my hair gently over my shoulders.

I felt my bones begin to melt. “Why can’t we just run away to Europe? I’ll get a job and you can open a gym while you carry on training to become a champion boxer. You can’t be a bodyguard because I’d be worrying about you day and night. Once we have a few babies, my father will forgive us and we can come back.”

His lips curved into a smile. “I ran away once, but it was the right thing to do, but running away is not the right thing to do now.”

I moved away from the driver’s seat and boldly went over to him. I positioned myself till I was sitting astride him and staring straight into his eyes. “So what do we do?”

With the edge of his finger, he stroked my nose. “That’s where I come in. It might seem most of the time that the world is conspiring to hurt us and bring us down. But if we pay attention, we might see that what it’s trying to do is to give us the answers to the questions we have been asking for a very long time.”

I leaned even closer to him and slowly ran my hands down along his hair. “I truly wish that I could understand a single word of what you just said.”

He burst out laughing.

The sound stunned me.

His eyes exploded with light and his chest rumbled with amusement.

I had never seen him laugh like this, and it was beautiful. He was laughing then he wasn’t.

Suddenly, he grabbed the back of my head and took my mouth in his. His kiss was hard and fierce and through it, he conveyed his deep passion for me. “I’ll fix this, Sienna,” he swore, breaking the kiss. “I promise I will.”

Right there and then, I actually lost it. I crushed my lips to his again and showed him with everything I had just how much he meant to me. I was trembling, tears pouring from my eyes as my entire heart completely opened up to this man.

No matter what happened between us from now onwards, I would never again love any man the way I loved him. To hear the words from him … don’t worry, I’ll fix it, was the answer to a prayer I didn’t even realize I had. For someone to stand up for me, when I couldn’t for myself. For someone to save me when I couldn’t save myself.

I broke the kiss and gazed into his eyes. “I’m in love with you, Angelo,” I told him. “I’m not asking for you to feel the same way, but I’m telling you now, so you will know that you can’t leave anymore, not unless you want make me fall out of love with you.”

His grin almost blinded me. “Sorry, but I’m gonna make you fall even harder.”

The words scrambled my brain. He couldn’t be real. With one sentence, I had fallen even harder and it was a steep, brutal fall. It made me desperate. I gripped the edge of my blouse and pulled it over my head.

“Sienna,” he muttered in surprise.

But nothing was going to stop me. “Pull us backwards,” I ordered.

He didn’t look convinced, but immediately, as if on autopilot, he obeyed. The chair slid backwards, and we moved smoothly together. “Sienna,” he called again, his eyes quickly surveying the surroundings. “Not here.”

On every side of us were rows and rows of parked cars, the only note of life filtering down was from the buzz of the street above.

“Right here, and now,” I told him. “You can make it quick if you want to, but I'm not leaving here until I feel you inside me.” I reached behind to unhook my bra and the moment my breasts spilled out of the fabric, I saw his gaze flare with wild excitement. His breathing came hard and fast, and it felt good to watch as lust completely took over his reasoning.
