What she gave a shit about... She blinked to make sure she was seeing right.

Blood drained from her face and her pulse began to rush. No wonder the women were lumbering along and making all kinds of noises. They had been burdened with the weight of one Blood Fury member by the name of Rook.

Holy shit.

They had captured Rook and tied him up, maybe even gagged him, but it was hard to see the details clearly with the darkness and distance. Even so, she couldn’t imagine he wouldn’t be complaining loudly about what they were doing if he didn’t have anything preventing him from speaking.

One of the women had opened the door to the dark cabin and they hauled Rook’s tied-up ass inside.

Jet jerked when the door slammed shut, abruptly bringing her back to the present.

Holy fuck, they took that stupid ass as a captive. Were they going to kill him?

And if they were, why didn’t they just do it where they caught him? Why bring him back to this shitty little cabin further up the mountain?

Unless they were going to torture him first? Did he have info they wanted to get from him? Like the reason the MC members kept coming up their mountain?

She wanted to know that, too.

The two windows at the front of the cabin were now glowing and flickering as if they were using candles instead of electricity for light.

Blowing out a breath and trying to gather her thoughts on what she should do, she crouched down and moved as low as possible over the beaten-down vegetation, with her gun ready in both hands, the barrel pointed toward the ground.

When she made it to the cabin without being detected, she pinned herself to the side and finally took a deep breath after holding it for so long. She repositioned her gun since her palms were beginning to sweat and her trigger finger had become twitchy.

Her cell phone was in her jacket pocket. Maybe she should call for backup.

What was she thinking? She couldn’t call anyone. Not even her brother. Adam would be just as pissed as Max if he knew she had gone up the mountain alone. Damn it. She’d risk her job if anyone found out.

She needed to figure out how to get Rook out of there by herself.

Or, hell, maybe she should just leave him there.

He deserved it. It would serve him right for being such a dick.

No, she couldn’t.

Could she?

No.

For shit’s sake, she couldn’t leave him. They’d kill him. She couldn’t let that happen to him. To anyone.

Protect and serve. That was what she vowed to do. The oath she took when she was sworn in as a police officer.

Protect and serve, even a dumbass like Rook, was what she needed to do.

Even so, she couldn’t just walk in and start shooting. She also couldn’t simply walk in and demand they free the biker.

No, they’d just capture her, too. After they laughed, most likely. Then they’d both be in a pickle. The Shirley women wouldn’t give a shit she was a police officer. Instead, that fact would work against her.

Just like it had with Rook.

She hunkered down near the window to the left of the crude wooden door and slowly rose to peek through the dirty glass.

They now had Rook tied to a bed and they were touching him. Like touching him.

In a way he would not enjoy.

In fact, in a way he would hate and object to if he could. He was not there because he wanted to be, he was there because he was forced to be. And the women were forcing their attentions on him.

Now she could see his mouth was gagged and his eyes squeezed shut.

She needed to do something and needed to do whatever it was quickly. Especially since his pants were pushed down and one of the women was shucking her own underwear and pulling them from under her long dress.

Holy shit.

Holy shit.

Think, Jet.

She needed a way to distract them. To pull them away from their victim.

In horror, Jet watched the woman climb onto the bed and straddle Rook’s thighs. With the two other women encouraging her.

What the hell?

Oh fuck, please stay limp. Don’t let her—them—do this to you.

If she shot off her gun, that could attract more Shirleys and they’d both be screwed. What could she do?

Fire!

She needed to set a fire. Just large enough to pull their attention from Rook. Maybe get them out of the cabin all together to investigate the smoke.

Once they were out and dealing with the fire, she could go in and free him.

And, more importantly, not get caught. She couldn’t help him if she got caught.

They’d both be fucked. Him quite literally.

She rounded the cabin to the rear, where she noticed not one damn window. She couldn’t monitor what was going on inside. Maybe that was better and she could just concentrate on figuring out how to start a fire.
