“You were in it?” Sig asked.

Dodge nodded. “Yeah. Ain’t ideal.”

“Well, guess now we wait and hope to fuck she contacts Dodge,” Trip announced, sounding like he was done with this conversation for now.

Right. There was nothing they could do until The Synners either came back to town or Syn contacted him. “Might not be ’til spring,” he warned them. Though, he hoped to fuck she didn’t wait that long.

“It’s better than nothin’,” Trip said on a sigh. He pulled his baseball cap off and rubbed his furrowed forehead.

“They good?” Sig asked Dodge.

It seemed like the level of his irritation had dropped from a one hundred to about a ten. Thank fuck for Red.

“Truth? She’s one of the best I’ve heard, brother. The band, not so much. With the right manager she could go far, but I told her she’d have to scrape off the rest of them.”

“Would she?”

“At where they’re at now? No. Those three guys are loyal as fuck to her. And besides that piece of shit skoolie they travel and live in, that’s all she got.”

“What the fuck,” Sig muttered. “Gave her to a family who I thought would give her a better fuckin’ life. Now she’s livin’ in a tin can with three men struggling to make it.”

Dodge wanted to ask him how well he knew that family or how much research he’d done on them before handing over an infant, but he knew that’d go over like a lead fucking balloon. A balloon that might crush him.

He’d like to avoid riling Sig back up if possible.

“Yeah, don’t know the details about that family. She didn’t share them, but thinkin’ your good deed mighta backfired.”

Sig closed his eyes and turned away. “Shoulda worked harder to track her down.”

“When?” Trip asked sharply. “When the fuck were you outta prison long enough to help her?”

Sig turned around and snarled, “These last three fuckin’ years. I figured she was off livin’ a good fuckin’ life and didn’t need a goddamn fuck-up like me fuckin’ up her life for her.”

Trip tilted his head and studied his brother for a long moment. “That shoulda been her choice to make, Sig,” he finally said a little more softly. He scratched the back of his neck. “All right. For now, there’s nothin’ more we can do ’til she contacts Dodge.”

“We can do online searches to see if the name of the band shows up on any venue websites.”

All three sets of eyeballs landed on Red.

Trip closed his eyes and shook his head. “We’re dumb motherfuckers. That’s all I’m gonna say besides thank fuck for our women who are smarter than us.”

Dodge barked out a laugh. “Then I’m in big fuckin’ trouble since I don’t got a woman to give me that extra brainpower. Guess I’m just gonna remain stupid as fuck.”

Sig’s lips twitched as he pulled Red into him again and pressed his lips to her temple. “So fuckin’ smart, baby. Don’t know how you can stand bein’ around a bunch of dumb fucks like us.”

She shrugged and smiled up at him. “It’s a struggle but we manage.” She rubbed his wiry jawline.

“We ain’t worthy,” Sig murmured.

“You are, just in other ways.” She smirked slightly. “Now, the atmosphere is way too heavy up here. Let’s go downstairs and take part in celebrating two more newly-patched members. Two more toward your goal, Trip.”

“That they are. It also makes room for more prospects.”

“Just gotta find some,” Sig added, releasing Red but interlocking their hands instead.

Trip nodded and headed toward the door. He paused before opening it with his hand on the knob. He glanced over his shoulder at his brother. “We’ll find her. Once we do, we’ll take care of her.”

After Sig nodded, Trip opened the door and disappeared through it.

He turned toward Dodge. “Gonna talk later.”

Red tugged gently on his cut. “Not tonight.” She glanced at Dodge.

He gave her an appreciative chin lift in return.

She turned toward the door, tugging Sig behind her. “Let’s go. I’m missing out on all the gossip and also cuddling with Dane and Dyna.”

“Can’t have that,” Sig grumbled as they disappeared.

Dodge waited for their footsteps to fade off, then he followed.

He’d be pulling out the bar’s laptop tonight after he got back to his apartment and hopping on Google.

He only hoped the next few bars or pubs The Synners played at had a website like the one Ozzy’s ol’ lady, Shay, had created for Crazy Pete’s. Most dives didn’t.

Dodge was afraid those were the only kind of places The Synners would be able to beg for a spot.

And only for fucking tips.

Trip’s words once again filled his head. “We’ll find her. Once we do, we’ll take care of her.”

Dodge snorted. Syn probably didn’t want to be taken care of.

In the end, she might not have a choice.

To Trip family was family.
