Pushing them aside, I thrust two fingers into her, my thumb finding her swollen clit. I finger-fuck her like I’m kissing her, slow and deep. She detonates around my fingers a few short seconds later, soaking my hand. And when her legs nearly give out on her, I grip the curve of her hip to hold her up as she comes completely undone.
We stay like this for several moments, both of us catching our breaths. Once we’re somewhat composed, we head back inside the private room, finding our food waiting for us.
“When I was growing up, my mom said I wasn’t allowed to have any snacks before dinner because it would ruin my appetite.” Sadie smirks. “She was totally wrong because I’m still hungry… for dinner and more of you.”
Fuck, have I mentioned how damn perfect my woman is?
“Dada, Dada!” Rory giggles, dropping her little butt onto the in-ground trampoline so I can jump and make her fly. When I do what she wants, and she flies into the air, I catch her in my arms, making her laugh harder.
It’s the day of her birthday party, which is also her actual birthday. It’s crazy to think my princess is already one. I’ve only known her—known about her—for two months, but it feels like she’s a part of me. I can’t imagine her or Sadie not being a part of my life. I’m not technically living with them, but I’m there every night, and I haven’t once not slept next to Sadie since the night she asked me to stay. I’m working on finding us a home, and once I find the perfect place, my plan is to propose and ask her to move in together. I never had a home growing up, and while the condo is great, I want to give Rory what I always dreamed of: the big house and even bigger backyard with a jungle gym and a dog running around.
“You must be Gage,” a woman says, making me glance up from my daughter. I instantly recognize her as the woman from the cemetery.
“Ga ga!” Rory exclaims, reaching for her.
“Hello, sweetheart,” the woman says to Rory before turning her attention back to me. “I’m Janice, and my husband, Henry, is saying hello to Sadie. We’re… Vincent’s parents.” Her eyes dim at the mention of his name.
“It’s nice to meet you.” Sadie’s mentioned them a few times since we’ve been together, telling me they’ve stayed in touch and consider Rory like a granddaughter. I didn’t put the two together until now, though. That the couple from the cemetery are Sadie’s in-laws.
“I just wanted to say thank you,” she says softly. “Sadie has told us so much about you, and it’s clear you make her happy. Vincent might’ve been my son, but I wasn’t oblivious to the way he treated her and chose drugs over her.”
Her admission has me swallowing thickly because I also chose drugs over Sadie once upon a time. As if she can sense my thoughts, she adds, “He refused to get help, and instead of doing what we should’ve done and cut him off, we enabled him. Sadie said you’ve been clean for over a year now. That’s all I wanted for my son…” She runs her fingers through Rory’s hair. “Seeing Sadie so happy makes me happy, and I know I have you to thank for that.”
“She and Rory are my world,” I tell her honestly. “Their happiness is everything to me, and I’ll always do everything in my power to make sure they’re happy.” I hand Rory over to Janice, making it clear that includes having no issue with her and her husband being part of our lives.
“Hey, you,” Sadie says shyly, stepping over and kissing my cheek. “I see you’ve met Janice.”
“I have,” I say, tucking her under my arm. “Things are about to get crazy since we finished our album and will start promoting it, but we should get together for dinner when it calms down.” I don’t miss the way Sadie sighs in relief against my side.
“That would be great,” Janice says, kissing Rory and setting her down so she can run and play with the other kids she’s made friends with.
She walks over to her husband, who’s chatting with Easton, and Sadie wraps her arms around me tightly, looking up at me. “Thank you.”
“You don’t have to thank me for accepting your family. Vincent and I both fucked up. The only difference between us is that I was able to get help before I killed myself. I know how fortunate I am to have this second chance with you and be able to have Rory in my life.” I lean down and kiss her soft lips. “I could’ve easily been in the same position as him, and I’ll never, for a second, forget that.”
