Emotion clogged my throat. “Where do we go from here?”

He lifted my hand, brought it to his mouth and pressed a hot kiss to my knuckles, his eyes never leaving mine. “Wherever you wish, at whatever pace.”

I shuddered as his lips continued to whisper back and forth across my skin. The pace needed to be slow, I knew that, but while my head said slow, my heart, and certain other parts of me said fast, fast, fast. It was those other parts that had me wrapping my arms around Vas’ neck and planting my lips on his. I knew he hadn’t expected me to kiss him when a surprised breath shuddered out of him. I plunged my tongue into his mouth, eager for his taste.

Before I knew it he was lifting me, I was wrapping my legs around his waist and he was backing me into a tree once more. There was nothing delicate about the kiss. It was full of hunger and need. Full of unspoken feelings that had built up inside us.

Now they were coming out in ways I doubted we could return from.

He broke away, planting kisses down my cheeks and jaw before burying his face in my neck. I moaned and felt him harden against me, desire swirling in my belly.

“How did you reply?” he asked, breathless as he glanced up and searched my face.

“Reply?” I could barely think with his mouth on me.

“In your vision, when I said I loved you.”

I cupped his cheek, pulling his mouth back to mine. “I think you already know,” I whispered before crashing my lips to his once more. The sounds of leaves rustling in the wind, birds chirping in the trees filled my ears. Then those sounds ceased and I was so busy kissing him that I barely noticed we were no longer in the forest. My back met something soft and I finally opened my eyes to find he’d teleported us to a hotel room in an unknown city.

I was vaguely aware that it was a nice room but that was all. I was lost to Vas, too absorbed in the kiss to ask where exactly he’d brought us. “So sweet,” he breathed and I flushed. “So beautiful, so strong.”

I’d never been this nervous or shy with Peter. There was something intimidating about Vas, perhaps because he was part demon. There was a light and dark in him that seemed constantly at battle and it fascinated me.

“Where are we?” I finally managed to ask.

“A hotel in a city a few hundred miles from Tribane. Sven is in the next room.” His expression turned devilish. “So we better keep things quiet.”

His hand travelled from my hip and over my stomach. I trembled when he pushed my thighs apart and settled between them. He trailed his fingers through my hair, pushing it away from my face as he devoured me with his eyes. “Now that I have you I fear I don’t know what to do with you.” There was a hint of self-deprecation in his voice.

“You don’t have to do anything.”

“Let me amend the statement. I fear if I do what I’ve been fantasising I might scare you away.”

Bravely, I asked, “What have you been fantasising?”

He continued gently combing his fingers through my hair, the careful touches invading a place in my heart I should’ve kept guarded. But it was impossible with Vas. The more I tried to keep him out the easier it was for him to claim another part of me.

His eyes smouldered, and I knew my question had filled his head with many private, lewd thoughts. My nipples hardened, a coil of tension tightened within me, desperate for release. “Several things, but since you told me of your visions of the future, one most frequently.”

I inhaled sharply when his fingers left my hair and he moved down my body, reaching for the button on my jeans. “Vas,” I breathed and he glanced up, eyes full of sin. Everything within me trembled with anticipation. I knew what he intended. There was only one thing in those future visions that could make him look at me like he was now, like he could eat me alive.

My skin beaded, my chest heaving with my quickened breaths, as he deftly undid my jeans, his fingers stroking over the delicate lace of my peach underwear. I was momentarily embarrassed about the colour. There was something about it that screamed innocence, and even though I wasn’t a virgin, I grew self-conscious.

Vas arched an eyebrow. “Nervous?”

I huffed a breath. “What do you think?”

He started to move away. “I can stop.”

I gripped his shoulder, my eyes pleading. “Don’t.”

His expression heated as he came back to me, not breaking eye contact when he gently tugged my jeans down my hips. Next he went for the zip on my fleece jacket and pulled it down. A few moments later I lay on the hotel bed in an oversized T-shirt and my peach coloured knickers. Vas stared up at me like I was some kind of goddess and I was certain I didn’t deserve such worshipful looks.
