She let him get distracted, even as she saw stars, and then she saw her purse on the floor, reaching for it. The knife was easy to grab, and when he wasn’t expecting it, she jammed the tip of the blade through his throat.

Tamsin looked him in the eye as his gaze went wide. And without another word, she twisted the blade.

At the same time she watched the light leave Paul Savonas, the door to his office opened, and there was Mason, her brother, and Albert Delcoties.

Tamsin pulled the blade from Paul’s throat, and she stumbled back. Mason was there, and he held onto her.

Everything began spinning, and then the world went black.

Paul Savonas was dead.

Tamsin Savonas held a great deal of bruises and damage to her body.

Albert Delcoties agreed it was self-defense, and in doing so, there would be no repercussions for Paul’s death.

Candice Delcoties was discovered in the basement, in a locked cage, heavily sedated. His father hadn’t done anything to her other than keep her locked up and sedated.

Mason watched as Albert helped Candice into the back of his car. He had gotten her a toy, something that helped calm her.

Before he climbed into the back of the car, Albert approached and held out his hand. “I expect to see you on Monday,” Albert said.

Mason looked at him with a frown.

“I refused to do business with your father and seeing as he is out of the equation, I have no problem doing business with his son. Also, you and your wife are invited to dinner that night as well.”

“I don’t know if Tamsin will be able to attend.”

Albert nodded. “She’s a good woman.”

Mason wanted to burst out laughing, because only in their world would a woman covered in blood from killing a man be deemed a “good woman.”

Albert left and Mason waved toward him.

Connor and Reese came out of the house. “Tamsin is awake,” Connor said.

Without another word, he walked back into the house and went straight to the sitting room. Jacob was there and Tamsin was up. Mason went to her, sitting on the floor in front of her feet, and then reaching out to cup her face.

She looked up at him and he saw the tears in her eyes. “Do you hate me?”

“What? Hell, no. I don’t hate you.”

“He … you … what he did, he was going to hurt you, Mason. War was going to start and you were going to get hurt and I couldn’t allow that to happen.” Tears fell down her cheeks, and Mason wiped them away.

“Please, baby, please don’t cry.”

“I don’t want anything to happen to you,” Tamsin said. She opened and closed her mouth and he looked to her.

Even with blood on her, and bruises appearing around her face from where his father had hit her, it didn’t take away from her beauty. He should have been the one to protect her. There was no way his father should have even gotten close to her. For that, he blamed himself. No one should have touched his woman. He should have handled everything. No one else.

“I love you,” Tamsin said.

“I’m going to leave.” This came from Jacob.

Mason didn’t even watch Jacob leave. His brothers had left as well, but he focused on his wife, his soul mate.

“I know this means I can leave because I’m not pregnant, and your father is now dead, but I don’t want to.” She sniffled. “I don’t know how it happened or even when it happened, but I do know for certain that I love you.”

He couldn’t stand it anymore. Cupping her face, he slammed his lips down on hers and heard her soft, gentle moan. It was the sweetest sound, and she put her hands on his arms, but then, slowly, so very slowly, began to travel up and circle them around his neck.

Mason broke the kiss and pressed his lips toward her ear. “I love you too.”

Tamsin gasped and jerked back. “What?”

He smiled. “I do, I love you, and I may not carry the Denton name, or have the legacy, but there is no way I can do the nice thing. I can’t let you go, Tamsin. I don’t want to. I love you and if any other man even comes near you, I’m going to kill him. You’re mine.” He stared into her eyes, and he didn’t know what he was going to find. He was a little taken aback to find happiness staring right back at him. Pure, simple happiness.

“I hope you know this also means that I don’t share you,” Tamsin said.

Mason laughed. “That is not going to be a problem.”

He kissed her again. This time, Tamsin pulled away from the kiss. “You don’t hate me?”

“No, I don’t hate you. You didn’t have to do this. I was going to take care of it.”
