“What’s up?” Tarson said from the doorway.
“We’re going to need a fire extinguisher up front. Sue’s personal trainer just lit the place on fire.”
Sue’s cheeks heated to a thousand degrees as she jumped to her feet, gasping.
Tarson stared at her in confusion for a moment and then groaned and rolled his eyes, grumbling something about Little troublemakers as he let the door swing shut.
Chapter Five
Sue was a combination of nervous and excited when she showed up at the gym a few minutes after four. Davis was at the front desk helping another customer when she entered, and she tried to sneak right by him to go change without bothering him, but he reached out a hand and snagged her wrist on the way by.
“Give me just a second,” he told the customer before turning toward Sue and smiling. “Hey, Cherry,” he whispered, grinning. “Get changed. I’ll meet you outside the locker room in five minutes.”
“Oh.” She was confused. “Why?” Surely he wasn’t going to walk her through another workout. He’d already shown her all the equipment yesterday. She figured she’d be on her own today.
“For your second personalized session, Cherry.” He released her and pointed toward the locker rooms.
Sue nodded and bit her lip as she scurried off. She didn’t want to argue with him in front of his customer, but she sure hadn’t paid for private training.
A few minutes later, she was still wondering what he’d meant as she sat on the bench and tied her shoes.
When a pair of skinny legs came into her view, she ignored them, but then a voice she recognized that was starting to grate on her nerves made her lift her face.
Why did the world have to have Elizabeths in it? Couldn’t people just be kind and mind their own business?
The brunette smoothed her perfect ponytail and cocked a hip out. “Did you think you could get Davis to like you if you paid for private sessions with him?” She smirked. “That’s not going to work, you know. He’s way out of your league.”
Sue opened her mouth, thinking to put this mean girl in her place by telling her that in fact Sue had a date with him later tonight. At his house. He was going to cook for her. So there.
Instead, Sue reminded herself Elizabeth wasn’t worth it. She picked up her Little Cakes shirt to stick it in her locker, holding back any response, ignoring the catty woman.
“God, you smell like frosting. Do you work at that fattening cake shop?” Elizabeth sneered. “No wonder you’re overweight.”
Sue was shaking now, but she closed her locker and held her head high. Elizabeth could yammer on all she wanted. Sticks and stones may break my bones…
Sue smiled warmly as she left the locker room. “Have a nice day.”
Elizabeth gasped behind her, but Sue managed to make it all the way out of the locker room before she let out her breath and leaned against the wall, shaking.
“Cherry? What’s wrong?” Davis had been waiting for her and he quickly took her arm and led her away from the locker room.
Before she knew it, she was in his office, sitting in a chair, and he was squatting in front of her. His brow was furrowed. “Tell me what happened?”
She drew in a breath and straightened her shoulders. “I’m fine.”
“You’re not fine. Your face is bright red and your eyes are filled with tears.” He snagged a tissue from his desk and handed it to her.
She hated to let that woman get to her. She wouldn’t. She dabbed at her eyes and took a few deep breaths. “See? Fine. Now why did you say today was my second session with you?” she asked to change the subject. “I didn’t pay for private training lessons.”
“Sue…” he warned in a deep Daddy voice that made her tingle all over. “We haven’t discussed the particulars of our relationship yet. I was hoping to do that tonight, but I can assure you part of that discussion will involve some rules and top among them will be punishments for Little girls who tell lies, even if they’re white lies.”
She slouched, feeling defeated, and then sat up straighter again so her tummy wouldn’t stick out. Ugh. “It’s no big deal. I handled it.” She squirmed though as she glanced at his expression again.
Punishments? Sue knew a lot of Daddies from her time working at Little Cakes. When Tarson or Garrett or Milo or Evan spoke of punishments, they usually threatened their Littles with spankings.
Sue hadn’t ever been spanked before. The idea made her cheeks flame hotter, but she was also intrigued and wondered what it might feel like. After all, she was pretty sure Ellie and the rest of her friends were intentionally naughty sometimes, so they must enjoy getting spanked.
“How about if you let Daddy decide if it’s a big deal or not, Cherry? The way you’re squirming on that chair tells me you’re well aware of what I mean when I say I will discipline you.” He lifted a brow.
