My plan, now more than ever, needs to be followed through with.

I need to get him out of that garage.

I can’t do it anymore.

I just can’t.

I press the decline button on my phone and exhale, finishing wiping down the counter after a massive night. It’s about eleven and we ran past our usual close. We had a lot of great singers in tonight, and it was incredibly successful. I’m exhausted. I sent my staff home and locked up, now I’m trying to finish up the cleaning before I go to bed. We’re closed tomorrow, and I’m looking forward to a day to myself.

I am going to take a drive to the beach, sunbake, eat a burger, and pretend that Cash Riggs never came into my life.

It doesn’t help that every time I close my damned eyes the man and his skills wash in. I have sex dreams about him, thinking of him over and over, which is driving me crazy. I’m better than this. God, I’m a fucking woman with a mission and this man isn’t getting in my way, even if he does work a vagina like no other.

My phone buzzes, and I glance down to see a message from Riggs.

Riggs – Answer the fucking phone or I come over there and pound on your door until you face me. The choice is yours. I have all night.

Great.

The phone rings again, and this time I pick it up.

I take a deep breath before I do, remember who the fuck I am, and answer with a calm and collected, “Cash.”

“What the fuck is goin’ on with you?”

Oh, he doesn’t know. Interesting.

“I’m busy. What’s the problem?”

“The problem is you’re fuckin’ ignoring me.”

“I didn’t think I had to answer you all the time. We’re not together. Sorry it upset you so much, maybe you should find someone to talk to about your inability to control your feelings.”

My voice is laced with sarcasm.

“What the fuck is goin’ on?”

“I’m not sure what you’re talking about. I’m working, I’m busy, having sex with you isn’t on the top of my to do list every day. Sorry to break it to you.”

“Bullshit,” he growls. “You’re fuckin’ up to something.”

“We are at war, Riggs. Remember?”

“Thought we were passed that bullshit.”

“Did you now? So for the last few weeks, while your dick has been pumping inside of me, you haven’t been still playing?”

He goes silent.

I knew it.

I fucking knew it.

That familiar pain squeezes my heart once more.

“Who fuckin’ told you?”

“I’m not stupid, Cash. I know when I’m being used. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go to bed so I can enjoy my weekend. If there’s nothing else?”

“I wasn’t using you.”

“Now you’re insulting me by making me seem stupid, but here’s the thing, buddy, I’m not stupid. I’m also done with you. I’m done with your club. I’m done with all the problems you’ve brought to my café and my life. I suggest you start looking for another garage to run your business from, or I’ll finish this in the only way I know how ...”

“You really want me gone that fuckin’ bad?”

“Yes.”

My chest hurts.

“Well, it’s just too fuckin’ bad I’m comfortable, isn’t it?”

“Well, I guess I’ll see you on the battlefield.”

I hang up the phone.

My heart is racing as I slam it down onto the bench. The hurt in my chest is something I’m not happy with, because it means I let myself get a little too attached. The very thought of going back to hating him bothers me, but I’m not silly enough to give in when he’s used me so heavily.

He said he wasn’t using me, but I know that he was. A few nights ago I found him having sex with another woman. If what we were doing meant anything to him, anything at all, he wouldn’t have done that.

He’s a liar.

I don’t do liars.

That doesn’t mean it doesn’t hurt, because my god, it does.

I fight back the angry tears as I finish cleaning up and walk out the front, setting the alarm and locking the doors.

“Well, well, we were hoping to find you alone.”

I spin around to see the three men who tried to attack me a few weeks ago standing on the sidewalk, they’re all staring at me with big grins on their faces. They look high, and fear grips my chest. I’m alone here, and god knows Riggs isn’t going to come to my rescue this time. I can’t let them see I’m afraid, so I square my shoulders and grin at them.

“You do know that the bikers who chased you off the first time are only next door, there is also the fact that the entire front of this shop is covered with security footage. Anything you do, will be seen. I’d think that through if I were you.”
