In the past, anyone visibly intoxicated and creating a problem was removed swiftly from the club and sent on their way in a hired car. Of course, any of those precautions had stopped when the Demons took over.

As long as a customer was paying, the MC was selling. Be it private dances, alcohol or even drugs.

Her focus turned from the boisterous man to the bar, where the head Demon stood with his arms crossed over his cut, his eyes on her and not on the unruly man.

What a fucking asshole.

It was best to ignore the drunk and continue with her routine. Get it over with and get off the stage. But with a quick glance through the club, she saw he was drawing more attention than she was.

That was not good for business.

She quickly flipped from upside down to right-side up and onto her feet. She decided to get him involved in the routine and, if she was lucky, he’d shut up. He wasn’t a regular and had never seen him before in the club. Most regulars didn’t act up like that.

Locking eyes with the man, she strutted to the edge of the stage and stopped in front of him. She bent over, “booped” him on the tip of the nose and gave him a forced, but friendly, smile.

“Hi, handsome,” she said loud enough for him to hear over the music and the drunk voices in his head. “Is there a problem you need help with?”

“Yeah, you ain’t naked.”

“You just need a little patience for that. Why don’t you relax and enjoy the show?”

“Pinch your nipples. Wanna see you play with your pussy.”

Huh. Somehow he must’ve gotten the impression that she was taking requests. “This isn’t a sex show, sweetie.”

“Don’t give a fuck. Now give me what I fucking paid for.”

The smell of alcohol was rolling off him. “Seems like you paid for a few drinks and you enjoyed those.”

“Gonna enjoy you next.”

Her eyes flicked to Taint, still standing in the same spot and not looking like he was about to step in—no surprise—then it quickly bounced over to the booth where Rez sat. The cop looked tense and ready to jump out of both his seat and his skin.

She gave him a subtle shake of her head, hoping he’d pick up on the message that she was fine, had the situation handled and he was to remain seated.

Whether he understood that message or not, time would tell.

“Why don’t you have a seat so I can finish my routine and someone will get you a drink on the house.” Not that the man needed more booze but the offer might get him to comply and stop interrupting her act.

She looked over at Taint again and pointed at the edge of the stage. The asshole biker turned around and gave her his back. He better be ordering a drink for the guy and not ignoring her. “The manager’s going to bring you a complimentary drink.”

“Don’t want a drink. Want you.”

“Well, you can’t—”

Before she could finish her sentence, the man lunged forward, grabbed her arm and yanked her off the stage.

Her heart lodged in her throat when she dropped like a rock and all the air rushed from her lungs when she landed hard on the floor.

It took her a few seconds to catch her breath, but the moment she did, she tried to push the man off her. He must have lost his balance and fell on her. “Get off me!”

She shoved harder against the crushing weight and suddenly she was free and could breathe again. But she hurt everywhere from the impact.

She heard a scuffle and, with a groan, grabbed a nearby chair to haul herself back to her feet, wincing at the sharp pain in her right ankle. Shouts and tables being knocked over had her focusing on what was happening, assuming it was Taint taking out the trash.

It was not.

It was Rez on the ground, pounding the snot out of the drunk.

She had no idea what he was yelling because it was all tumbling out of his mouth so quickly. She caught the words “fuck,” “fucking,” and “motherfucker,” pretty damn clearly, though.

The customer, already knocked out, had blood gushing from both his nose and mouth, along with a bleeding gash on his cheek. Gripping a handful of the man’s shirt, Rez was using it to hold up the drunk so he could slam his fist non-stop into the limp guy’s face.

Jesus!

“Rez!” she screamed at him to keep him from killing the guy and making a life-altering mistake. “Stop! Rez!”

Before she could get around the knocked-over tables and chairs to get to him, Taint and two prospects surrounded Rez, grabbed a hold of him and began dragging him backwards. They didn’t just stop at getting the cop off the guy, they kept dragging him farther and farther away.
