Made up mostly of narrow black straps that framed her generous tits, narrow waist and the flare of her hips, the only fabric covering her nipples and her crotch area—the last a legal requirement when dancing on stage—were strips of black lace.

The outfit was one of her favorites since she loved the way it emphasized her curves and put them on display. After shucking her outer clothes to reveal the teddy underneath, she slipped on a simple pair of black stilettos she had thrown into her overnight bag to complete the look.

When she had stepped out of the bathroom, Rez’s mouth dropped open and his eyes bugged out like a character on a kids’ Saturday morning cartoon. “Shock and awe” was exactly the response she was striving for and she wasn’t disappointed.

“You’re still dressed,” she complained, making her way over to the bed.

He closed his dropped jaw, gave her a sexy smile and lifted a finger. “Be right back.”

Before she could respond, he rushed from the room. A few seconds later Closer by Nine Inch Nails spilled from the built-in speakers hidden throughout his condo.

Apparently, she wasn’t the only one who planned a surprise tonight.

A hand appeared from the doorway, then disappeared. A bare foot made an appearance next, then was gone. A leg followed and a few seconds later an arm took its place.

When all of his extremities disappeared, he strutted—sort of—into the room.

Was he trying to be sexy? Was he putting on a show for her? What was this display?

She pinned her lips together so she wouldn’t burst out laughing at how awkward he appeared. She planted her palms on the mattress behind her, crossed her legs—encased in thigh-high, sheer stockings—and leaned back to enjoy whatever he was attempting to do.

If it wasn’t sexy, it would at least be entertaining.

The hood of his Southern Allegheny Regional PD sweatshirt was pulled up over his head and his face was tipped down, creating enough shadows to hide his features. Once he hit the center of the room, he halted and did a semi-impressive spin on the ball of one foot until he faced her.

With a flourish, he threw back the hood, cocked one dark eyebrow and blew her a kiss.

She slapped a hand over her mouth to smother the giggle that bubbled up.

This was so damn wrong.

It was also so damn right.

The man had a great sense of humor and didn’t mind poking fun at himself, even if he didn’t mean his performance to be comedic.

She liked that.

She liked him.

Of course, that was why she’d been spending so much time with him. He was so much more than simply a good lay.

He was gorgeous, had a great smile and impressive physique. He was articulate, if he considered his words carefully before they came out of his mouth. He might be blue-collar, but she saw no indication of him not being financially responsible and he had a solid and noble career he seemed to love.

The man had more pros than cons.

The only thing that bothered her—and it was only a slight problem at this point—was the fact she originally thought he didn’t have an issue with her stripping. In a way, he still might not, but the more time they spent together, the more he seemed to be getting possessive and felt like he needed to have a say in her career.

She had to nip that in the bud before it became a bigger problem.

She wanted full control over her life and refused to give that up. Any man she was involved with, even if only casually, needed to respect that to remain in her life.

It would be a huge issue if he didn’t.

She had seen blips of possessiveness in him already and they weren’t even in a serious relationship. She hoped it was only because he was a cop at his core. Law enforcement tended to be type-A personalities, more protective and sometimes bossy as hell.

Her concern with that quickly faded as he spun on the ball of his foot again until he was facing away from her. He reached over his shoulder to grab a handful of his sweatshirt mid-back and tugged it off.

Not in time with the song. Not even smoothly.

It got snagged on his wide shoulders, then caught on his head and after wrestling with it for a few seconds, he finally freed himself and tossed the hoodie onto the floor in the corner.

It was clear, even at this point of the “show,” Nick, the owner of Peckers All-Male Revue, would not be hiring Rez any time soon.

But, again, it was amusing. As well as sort of sweet that he was putting in this much effort to impress her. Even though he didn’t need to do so.

He had to have planned this out, since under the sweatshirt, he was wearing a black ribbed tank and since he always complained about how hot he was, layering was not this man’s style. But that tank emphasized his trim waist, broad back, muscular shoulders and exposed some of the artwork inked into his skin.
